that's more electro house than dubstep though..
I'd say it's a mix between several genres, Electro House and Dubstep included.
Just listen to this, it's definitely not just one genre. But anyway, who gives? Electronic music these days is almost always a mash-up of genres.

Edit: by the way i just googled some dubstep music! and found this site!
Oh my god I just found out something good, I want to share it here where peopel appreciate dubstep.
Intro is alittle different (good) and it keeps original melody throughout the song. Some may however look more melody varieties and it's pretty similiar all the way to end for dubstep song. Still good melody that will make you headbang anyway.

There is a huge difference between dubstep and electro house. The wobble is not exclusive to dubstep. A genre is defined by its core beat and bpm. Electro has a four on the floor beat and is around 128 bpm, while dubstep favors a hip hop style beat and is normally around 140bpm. The song you posted is actually considered moombahcore, which is a variation of moombahton. That is a relatively new genre based on dutch house/latin sounds and is pretty slow compared to most genres, only 108bpm. Sorry for getting all technical, but the main point is Knife Party is for the most part electro house.
So... I didn't go through all 56 pages (although I might later today).. but maybe some who know this genre inside and out can help me.
I want to know the difference between (or at least hear some songs that are) old/original dubstep, and the newer, more electronica (or so it seems to me) dubstep.
Whether it's a direct link to a song/video, or it's a page linked in this thread ... I'm just super curious since this genre has been around for a WHILE now (i'm talking years, and some of you know this is true), and I'd like to hear some of the original artists/songs classified as Dubstep.
I started listening to dubstep sort of 'in the middle' of it's life a few years ago when it started breaking out, so there are certainly people more qualified than me to talk about this (especially since I know nothing about actual music writing or correct terminology etc)
But essentially older dubstep sounds more like UK garage, darker and less 'squeaky'. More ambient I guess would be the word.
Think along the lines of this song - nowadays this is considered ambient dubstep (maybe chillstep), but a few years ago this would have just been dubstep itself.
