Finished reading the series up to date just a few days ago and its been so good so far. The end of the tower of paradise arc was so amazing, the fairytail fight arc was epic and natsu/gildartz fight was really well done. The thing I don't really understand is why people dislike the nirvana and/or edolas arc so much, i thought they were good in their own ways.
They dragged on. You weren't around from the beginning of them. Waiting each week, for a new chapter. The pace was slow, and the fights were stretched out. People generally wanted condensed chapters, where a lot is going on on each page.

That's why I read it every 3-4 weeks when it was at this point, it made going through it much easier. I've done that with One Piece a few times as well when I knew the action of a few chapters would be amazing.

Nirvana arc took 33 chapters and Edolas took 34 chapters, OP's average main arc length since the start of bw saga has been around 50 and even more for naurto. I don't see how they drag on considering the quality of writing :\

That was an awesome read of a chapter, 19 pages that literally flew by. I wasn't expecting Makarov to grab onto him though, and Natsu really has this Luffy thing going for him now where he takes something so simple that it's higher level than expected.

I like the chapter. A pawn got owned by Natsu in merely two chapters - short and snappy. If it was Bleach it could have taken 5.

The chapter was pretty good. Did Natsu get stronger or was that just a temporary power boost that he can only get vs god flame users?

5, and then they'd talk for a chapter and fight for 4 more.

I liked this chapter though, they're following the necessary train of escalation pretty interestingly with Natsu. It's not him willing himself to be stronger, + Show Spoiler +but absorbing that God flame which turned me on. Wink Next fight please :D

I like Fairy Tail a lot. Definitely in my top 20 manga. Yes after Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. It has a refreshing "Joking" vibe to it that the others lack, but I just simply don't like it as much.

The only issue I have with fairy tale is that almost all of their power-up situations are simply "Shit just got real, lets get real also" BUT the way they explain or get those powerups is always unique so it never really GETS old. Besides getting stronger in desperate situations is the basic of human nature, not everyone can pull out their full potential right from that start

Natsu learned a new trick to absorb the god flames. So basically he can combine his dragon power with the absorbed god power to shoot some awesome Kamehameha out ^_^
Great chapter btw

I didnt quite understand how compleatly nullifying his own magic made him able to eat the god flames :\ It was a good chapter but itwent by so quickly

So...I didn't understand this chapter 220.
+ Show Spoiler +Power level: (above?)S-class Mirajane barely scratched a "normal" guild member of Grimoire Heart. What's up with that? I mean, Erza had enough Worf-scenes and still retained S-class, but Mirajane too?
Explosions: Didn't the bad guy use those conjured earth-thingies to make explosions? How come they only hit Mirajane in the end, even though she doesn't put herself in between those and her sister?
Gah.
At least Zeref is going to do something now. Epic anger is epic.

So many questions...in my head

+ Show Spoiler +Mira used up pretty much most of her magic power before fighting with Azuma so she couldn't really impose much damage to him although he was injured somewhat by her. Secondly, when she was hugging her sister, most of her body was returning back to its human form so she must have used her last remaining magic to do something idk, which is why only she was harmed. Just a guess. Most probably Lisa will will power up or something of that sort. Anyhow, Zeref is hella pissed.

Characters in fairy tail have ridiculous survival rates. I can't begin to count how many times a character in fairy tail (the guild) has "died" and "revived" or decide to sacrifice themselves and survive. All the hype behind character deaths always end up going to waste. I always lol whenever Erza suggests to get herself killed for the greater good.
In addition the power levels get more and more ridiculous as each chapter goes on. As I said about characters dying, characters also power up like crazy. You see them almost dying to a new opponent; give them a few minutes and they're tearing him apart with some power they just gained. I wouldn't mind this happening once or twice, but EVERY battle?

That being said, this manga does have entertaining fights and enjoyable character personalities. They also do a good job of creating hype in many situations such as + Show Spoiler +Luxus getting his own page after Makarov "dies."

I think Mira-jane simply dislikes fighting and did not utilize any of her "hidden-potentials", however limited or great that might be.

220 is out! Link updated on the main page, will edit this after reading.
