The Simon Patterson - Taxi link you supplied is a pretty good example of the inconsistency I was mentioning through our pm's, Duke..
Yes, it sounded awesome during its middle section.. very trance like and soothing etc.. but then towards the 'build-down' around 6:15, it hits it up with a pretty heavy beat that totally goes away from that trance theme it was building up..

A good trance theme that he came out with and was actually consistent w/ trance-genre would be this:

Very 'emotional' trance track that doesnt have any sorta weird, completely beat-changing pattern involved.

sigh*, I might just go ahead and get that Taxi track anyway ^ ^ it sounded pretty good, cept for the beat-changeup @ the end.

Ah yes I love that Elf (2001 returning mix). It absolutely brings me back to those good ol days. And I completely understand what you're saying about Simon Patterson but he's been trying new stuff while not completely going away from what's made him so big. He shows this in his sets awell. I was lucky that I got to see him like 2 weeks ago when he came to Dallas. That whole night was just choon after choon, from the opening dj's to the closing dj.

i was gonna go this year but the lineup seems terrible compared to last years. Then again, it's kinda hard to beat benny, deadmau5, and all the other big names at that show. still undecided if i'm gonna head out there

I sway back and forth on Sander van Doorn all the time. I absolutely love some of his productions while some of them I can't stand at all. And it's the way thing for me with his sets. Some are absolutely choon after choon while others are boring as fuck to me.

Oh yeah that's a staple in his sets for months now. He played it both when I saw him in Houston and Dallas this year. The crowd goes crazy when they hear the song. Also The Great Escape and Absolute Reality just kills the dance floor when he plays them, as well as, Metroplis on a good day.
