Hiromi's music especially is pretty interesting, if there are more Japanese jazz artists (or jazz artists from any country really) that make similar music I'd be happy to hear about them. I really enjoy Indigo Jam Unit, they make some really good stuff and unlike Chihiro and Uehara, who are solo pianists, they are an actual group, so it's nice to hear them build off each other as Jazz is part improv. One of my favorite tracks off the Collectivity album. + Show Spoiler [Rush] + On July 10 2012 12:04 tRuE008 wrote: + Show Spoiler + On July 08 2012 22:52 Circos wrote: Japan has such a strong post-rock scene, it's pretty impressive. Tons of good electronic/jazz-hop producers aswell. Hey circos, can you recommend me some good post-rock artists. So far, all I've been listening to is Mono. Need more post-rock in my life. Totally agree on the fact that Japan having strong jazz-hop producers. Sucks that Nujabes have to leave so early in his life, but there are other great producers coming out of Japan. My personal favorites are Dj Okawari, Cradle Orchestra, Tsunenori, Herajika Tracks, and Michita. DJ Okawari I consider to be really weak in the whole jazz/hip hop stuff compared to other producers but I still like his work. Chimp Beams is really good if you haven't heard of them. I haven't heard much stuff from Michita, can you recommend any of his albums? I only have Three and Soul Session. I found Michita because he sampled Drunken Tiger's Thumb in Bird of Paradise so haven't heard a lot of his work.

Youtube took down over 30 Nana videos yesterday. The entirety of Live Castle Kings/Queens Night gone with only a few survivors. How am I supposed to spam people with Nana if they keep filing copyright claims??? I was working on a Nana blog too and now I need to find new videos @_@ I swear one of the reasons no one in the U.S. knows about Nana is cause her videos keep getting taken down...

However recently, I have come across many fantastic Japanese artists, but I can only find a song or two of them on youtube. Finding their MP3's for download or for sale is even tougher. It's as if all of their music is impossible to find. Is Japan more strict than other countries when it comes to their videos and music being viewed/shared outside of their country?

I really think it would be a good idea to try to get it to spread to other countries, but I guess they see it as a negative thing to get into.
