The story of DC at TI6 was an incredible storyline, great because of how unexpected it was for that team to rise so high at TI and play so well. One of them is still in TI. I wonder how much of Sccc's military experience plays a role in how he plays Dota.

The story of DC at TI6 was an incredible storyline, great because of how unexpected it was for that team to rise so high at TI and play so well. 4 of their 5 players were top-tier or very close to it and they found a great way to play around their fifth. How well they did was surprising obviously, but nothing compared to how surprised I'd be if this year's DC had gotten to the finals. Them doing badly this year really isn't down to them being a bad team. They just hugely underperformed. Honestly I think that squad overperformed at TI or hit a peak at that time, they fell down since then pretty spectacularly to the point of not qualifying back. People seem to think that if you did great at TI that necessarily means you're an amazing player at all times, but sometimes its just a run of form.
I don't disagree that they overperformed (hell, what team doesn't have to play beyond their usual play to get top 2 at TI), I just think they were an actually great team that happened to fall off since. w33 was a god for the entirety of that year for example, but it's been painfully obvious even just watching his stream the past months that he didn't care as much anymore/just couldn't find that form again.

when do you guys think "supports and roaming are so impactful nowadays" became this cliche no-substance talking point that generically applies to everything? I've been hearing the exact same conversations since at least 6.79

I've been hearing the exact same conversations since at least 6.79 It's because mid is basically an all-important position right now, so being able to roam and get kills on it early has an outsized impact compared to some other patches. I think 6.79 or .81 had a lot of dual ganks on safelane carry, for instance. .82-.84 it didn't matter as much because "lawl rubberband" though.
