It's a team effort really to have AOE control and pressure him early.
But if you are looking for a more solo answer, i think Sven deals with PL very well at all stages of the game. Just make sure to get BKB so you actually have mana for your spells as the PL will get diffusal. Also get MKB / Bloodthrone if the PL has butterfly.
You will out farm him, His illusions will do very little damage to you if you have war cry up. And you cleaves his illusions away in an instant.
