Yeah the underdog myth is actually really true in this case. LGD was a decently strong team and let's just say that most people didn't have high expectations for that incarnation of liquid. Boy LD annoyed me that match.

Yeah definitely. That's why I appreciate the stage. Sports are meant to be watched by spectators. I think it adds depth to the competition, and it's another skill set (LAN experience and the ability to play not only under pressure but scrutiny and raucous crowds)

People were valuing LGD based on name alone and what they had achieved the previous year, not how they were performing up until that point, which was sporadic (kind of like how this iteration of LGD is right now). Anyone who had followed Chinese dota leading up to TI3 knew the scene was pretty weak and that that ex-giants iG and LGD were being overrated. LGD was probably a stronger team overall than Liquid but not as much as people would have thought at that time, and certainly not considered a contender to win it all.

Liquid was a mediocre team at the time that placed 8th in every lan. People who expected Liquid to perform well only did so because they played well online (well as in better than EG)

IIRC, this iteration of Liquid is the very first one to win a single Bo3 at a LAN. That Liquid had decent/good online results against other Western teams. They just couldn't compete in a LAN to save their own life, and the one previous tournament against Chinese teams they got thoroughly thrashed and finished last.

He pops meta and moves forward to start hitting people and use reflection, and at the same time Maybe blinks in on Secret's back line and the entire Secret team starts running back towards their base when he is omnislashing. At this point EE has had to pop BKB and is pretty much committed, and the rest of Secret gets caught in a 4 man curse by MMY. Maybe he could have had the opportunity to back out right as Maybe jumped in but the window was quite narrow, but one could also criticize Bulba 100% stacking his roar on top of Puppey's stun on the Mirana (so they don't have any disables when the Jugg jumps in) and Arteezy wasting his time waiting for the Jugg coming out of Omnislash instead of moving forward to help EE with LGD's backline when the other 3 Secret heroes had the Jugg isolated and unable to do anything. But I guess memes are strong so better only talk about one aspect.
