What timings should you aim for in the mid game, and what items are good on him super late? well he has a natural linkens, heart and undetectable windwalk. get him a bkb and he is pretty much unkillable, skadi gives him great stats, killing power and survivability, heart also makes him very hard to bring down. abyssal and butterfly give great damage too. slark is a snowball hero and so you wouldnt aim to get items by a particular minute mark like with am or morphling.

support potm normally means roaming potm, and roaming potms should be camping runes every 2mins. alternatives are drums, ring of basilius (not enough but better than nothing) and core items such as diffusal or manta.

Thinking about it a while I assume it is(are) heroes that do a lot of burst damage and/or stun like lion. Although I'd appreciate other input. If you're playing 1v1 against him in laning phase, Windrunner/Potm and some other guys can handle him pretty well because he's very slow without tier 2 boots and some passive stacks. He can't just drain them and even if you're drained, you basically can hit 1-2 spells while link is alive, clear wave, get your bottle/boots and slain him. If you're playing 2v2 or 3v3 against Razor as main carry on trilane, focus on supports. Get them asap if you're fighting and then try to lockdown Razor with removing of drained target. If he's not getting any stuff like Vanguard/pt/bkb/scepter, he's pretty useless. I remember old Razor with frenzy and chain lightning, but it's not it :D Guys like Visage, Abaddon or Venomancer can shut down him pretty well in this lane. Main weakness of Razor is his late game, so if you're not behind in mid game and want to transition to late, you won't have any problems except protecting your supports who don't have reliable escapes. Good luck!

Is there a weakness that I'm not aware of other than the fact that most hard carries are vulnerable to being shut down early game? The current focus in the meta-game revolves around a multi-core line-up with supports that leave the lane and gank the solo lanes. PL is a hero that needs a lot of space to be effective. As a melee hero, he needs constant babysitting from the supports. With the nerf to the pull camp along with the shorter night time, this really uses up the support's most important resource: time. On top of that, even if he does get the space, a multi-core lineup usually scales better into the late-game than a solo pushing PL. In addition, he does not offer anything to the team in the mid-game such as Luna's eclipse, Tiny Wisp relocate ganks or insane pushing power like a 1 role pugna. Oh and Meracle's split-pushing Naga outclasses PL. TL;DR He's weak mid-game, needs too much farm and is a solo-core kind of hero.

I was actually curious because I've seen a few times when antimage was picked in recent competitions. I emphasize "few times" because I agree with what you're saying. But why is antimage one of the few melee carries who's picked in tournaments other than others (I meant to use phantom lancer as an example). Is this because antimage is better at teamfights due to mobility and at the same time the option to split push if need be?
