except meld is not channeling. Not sure about force staff though but I think it breaks meld. And I am 100% sure that cogs break meld

EDIT: It doesn't
Edit2: forcestaff does break meld

It's a known bug with certain spells that move the target based on temporary terrain (I know Cogs are affected, and I believe Sprout is as well). The trigger for Meld is supposed to just check your actual position, regardless of HOW you moved, but it looks like in DotA 2 it cares about what caused the movement.

Should I be putting more points in stats on am if im expecting more harass like vs dual range? Is 1-1-1-1 and the rest in stats ok at level 7-8?
|
Early points in stats is fine, even good, on am. Especially under the conditions you mentioned.

Stats are actually geared toward farming, since Mana Break and Spell Shield do not affect your farming speed, and more Blink ranks don't help you farm until Battle Fury is finished.
Max Spell Shield first is actually the *most* resilient to harass, but it depends heavily on what the lane you're against is.

How do you deal with sniper early game? I'm new to dota but have moba experience, and it seems very hard to deal with this guy in lane, especially in mid (I've played versus him in a 2v2 lane and that's not so bad because you can threaten to kill him). When I play as sniper or against him, I see a ton of effort being put on harassing with those enormous range autos. I just feel I can't CSS versus him very well (evn as a ranged hero) because I his strong harass. What can you do (especially early) to avoid getting super out farmed and stay (at least) even with him?

If you play a weak mid like drow vs. sniper, though, I don't think you have many chances for that. Just stand far back as ranged if you can't kill him. Most heroes have much higher and more reliable damage than sniper early on, so they have a decent chance to outlasthit sniper(you can never guarantee to outlasthit sniper with how good sniper's animation is).

I'd honestly say have your support smoke gank him if he pushes up in lane at all. Also, heroes like Spirit Breaker and Ancient Apparition that have long range spells can help you out as well.

I've got an absolute ton of unopened chests of varying types but I have no intention of paying for keys and thus they are remaining unopened. Are the chests worth anything to anyone or does it make more sense to just delete them as space requires?

RR = random rare, so the buyer just picks a rare items from his stash and offers it to you for 3 chests.

Sniper's starting damage is really low so try to deny creeps as much as possible.
Runes spawn every 2 minutes starting from minute zero. If you're mid, try to blast down the creep wave that spawns at 15 seconds before the rune as soon as possible. Sniper has no AoE so he can't kill the creep wave as fast as most mids, meaning you should be able to control most runes, or at least force Sniper to miss last hits trying to contest them. This should give you an advantage in lane and an advantage ganking sidelanes.
Sniper's one of the easiest heroes to kill at low levels (poor health pool, poor movement speed), so try to kill him or try to heckle your supports into ganking mid, provided you guys have enough stun / nuke potential.
Generally heroes with good mobility and burst damage work well. Queen of pain or puck can almost always threaten a kill on him. TA does really well too because of the shield and massive base damage advantage.

The most important thing is that Sniper has one of the lowest base damages in the game. Virtually every hero that goes up against him in lane has at least a 20 damage advantage against him. You have to take advantage of this and deny creeps as aggressively as possible. Sniper becomes a lot more manageable if you keep his levels down--again his base damage is low, so if you maintain a level/item advantage, his harass starts to become less of a problem. If you let him easily get level 5 without denying many creeps, then he will start to be a pain.
