Can't take a joke? Of course curses or prophecies are not real, but it's fun to say stuff like this and have some kind of gaming lore (oh it's China's year again, oh RTZ curse, oh EE 2 rax down powerup). Starcraft was loaded with that, and made the scene incredibly fun. Lighten up.

VP was THE favorite before TI (maybe alongside Liquid). If they couldn't adapt to the TI meta as fast as the other teams could, then as sad as it sounds for a VP fan, they failed expectations. Top 6 is an amazing feat for most teams, but VP was built to win TI, and for most of the year they proved they could. Is that a choke? It depends on how you view things, but from the perspective of competition, they played below their game-dominating standard. The final major tournament before TI saw them at the grand finals, so they weren't on a downswing.

VP was n1 DPC, they were favorites

I still think the meta/patch should be stable for a season, these huge (typical) changes before TI can make or break teams, even some like VP

See Wings, they never played that much before and after TI, but they understood the meta and destroyed everyone in their path to TI6, ezpz.

Eh, i actually like seeing a meta evolving during TI, and it creates the feeling that everyone can beat each other when the meta isn't completely figured out. I see your point though, just don't find it fun to watch/play at all.

Agreed. A stale meta would mean that it's all about execution and getting the OP heroes before the other team. I like the chaos of a new meta right before TI. It rewards adaptability to the old meta, or just extremely skilled execution of an obsolete meta. Either is highly entertaining. And it's also makes those amazing stories of underdog runs, or zany cheese strats that much more probable.

I thought that this meta would suit them because they were the strongest early game team. Something happened, they choked hard, Noone looked scared, always lost his mid lane, we never saw them smile in the boot, they looked terrified. I think this was their worst showing in 2 years, and they still got top 5, which isn't that bad if u see it that way! Pasha, Solo and Rodjer played ok, Noone was often sacked in mid cause of bad laning matchup, but Ramzes. Man, he played very VERY bad. He was THE best carry in the world, but this TI he was one of the worst. And I though he would dominate again with ursa.
Still, they will stick together, and hopefully be stronger than ever, This just wasn't their year. Stay strong VP, you will get it next year.

Also, about meta, when I saw that they buffed necro and alch before TI I wanted to puke. Such shit heroes to watch, I got flashbacks from previous TI, which had cancer meta( remember viper+veno+necro). Also I don't like how right before TI, Icefrog sacked all VP favored heroes. Liquid exploited Kotl, shaker, wisp even in epicenter 2017 and they were still viable in TI7, but we got completely new meta right before TI8. Don't get me wrong, I love Liquid, they vs VP is the true new el classico, always fun to watch, I don't want to trash them, but the system that patches the game every month with the bullshit amount of changes, under the guise that they are minor changes(not only heroes, but new items, and changes to BBs and Runes).

Trash, really, i don't know. They can play better, but i am crying, it was my favourite team.

Why the past tense? They still exist.

I took the day off of work tomorrow so I can stay up watching bo1s tonight. Plus now I can watch them butcher Mineski tomorrow.

I am really sad about CIS dota, for what VP need first place in DPC, if they can't reach even top 3 at the international? Why 5 month old stack Winstrike can reach top 9, but professional team VP that dominated all season reach only top 6?

Pasha is playing a ton of pos 3 Kunkka lately, and overall VP players are playing a lot of pubs.
Rojer and Zayac from Navi play a lot of Techies as well, Techies was first ban vs Navi in the TI quals.

Also why is there no post in this thread for 1 year, lol??

Super though loss for VP. I don't know but I felt that since they hadn't been dominating the DPC, they might've had a chance this year. But I guess not :/ wonder what the new lineup will be like

There's speculation Solo is retiring, largely stemming from claims Artstyle made during TI.

Swap Rodjer with Immersion, and maybe bring in Fn on midlane.

feels a little like the liquid / matu thing, where they might want to change something but it's actually hard to see how you would upgrade any position in the roster.

In many ways it's worse, because liquid was consistently not getting the results then wanted, but VP had a decent season other than at TI, so they have more to lose.

Why isn't Virtus.pro in ESL One (i.e. not Prodigy)?

Esl only let one team from each org play each tournament.
I heard prodigy beat main team before this tournament, so they decided to let them play.
