Only caught game 4. Didn't look like VP was playing fully serious. Getting caught with 4 no buybacks is uncharacteristic. Nonetheless, still great job by navi!

game 3 was super serious by VP

and game 4 at that moment VP was on a serious timer, so saving for buybacks wasnt going to save them if they didnt get new items IMO

so it was ... be as strong as you can be but die and lose, or die 2 times and lose either way

I mean, yeah, it's not a major or a minor, but there was a decent chunk of money on the line.

But Navi improving, Dendi playing really well lately

Hes never had a problem competing mechanically with anyone. And if that base is there then its all about the team really.

it has always been on the team, but Dendi was in some kind of hole to be honest, sure he never was downright bad or getting rekt in lane, but he lacked some mid game decisions and play more safe, etc...

Of course is hard to say that's all on Dendi considering how team oriented this game is, because is no mistery that Dendi feels a lot safer with Rodjer + Sonneiko, Rodjer is an amazing pos4 roamer and Sonneiko is always at the right place at the right time, that gives Dendi a lot more space to play the mid lane.

VP is anything but stable, their recent results are really lacking. That being said Navi also had a good results in DL outside of their 0:2 against secret. So while I wouldn't say that Navi are there yet, they are definitely looking good atm.

That being said atm I'd rate Liquid Tier 1 and then have a hard time. Secret is looking strong, Newbee is looking strong, LFY and VG look good on occasion. No idea where NA stands atm. Navi is establishing themselves as the strongest CIS team atm, but that's also due to VP slumping.

Ehm for the past 6-12 months they've consistently been top 3-5 teams in the world, won ESL Hamburg, finalist in Kiev, won the Summit 7 and top 6 TI (losing to the Liquid who went on and won the whole thing). So saying that they're not consistent is quite harsh. Lets not forget the ESL Hamburg final was less than 1 month ago. I do agree that Navi aren't there yet, though they're progressing at a steady pace.

However we'd need to see how they're going to do with top tier teams from other region as Navi tend to do better against CIS teams, due to similarity in style/scrimming together .etc

Indeed. They need to play more and more vs European and Chinese teams, because they lack experience. But they qualified for a bunch of tournaments and so it will happen. I don't think they can win a Valve major or minor yet, but sometimes they can do better than 6th place, probably.

What's the minor where they are playing vs Mineski first in group with EG? I feel like that minor looked very winnable with recent form.

I don't know if VP is struggeling with the new patch ... (their convincing ESL Hamburg win was just before that)

But NaVi are coming together! All their positions are doing well! High hopes for now!

Also drafting and decision making is really improving. Artstyle Na'Vi had big issues going transitioning to late game and they could win only if they dominated lanes and Dendi snowballed. Recently I've seen Na'Vi winning in a lot of different ways. Just with Virtus Pro has seen Dendi, Crystallize and General Carrying in 3 different games.

I think that VP is struggling with Na`Vi more so than with the new patch. They still had quite convincing wins against other top teams. That being said, new Na`Vi is definitely shaping up to be close to tier 1 team.

Also Dendi is back in business. He always was a player that could compete with anyone but when your team doesn't show any meaningful results for so long, motivation starts lacking and we can see this especially now. When his team started winning stuff and going toe to toe against top teams, he is suddenly back on top.

VP also tied with MoF and OG in DL and got crushed by VG and NB in dotapit, where they also dropped a map vs Fnatic (I've always like EE, but Fnatic is terrible atm). It's definitely also the patch.

Not trying to take away anything of Navi, they are definitely looking good and could become a contender for tier1. They are looking a lot less one-dimensional and I've been impressed by especially Dendi's performance.
But I wouldn't say that winning two of three series against a team that wasn't the most stable to begin with and has been slipping up recently tells a lot.

Maybe I've been on that hype train too often and am more cautious now, idk.

They dropped the ball on a Major qualifier that should have been theirs..

I don't know why they are so adamant on letting some heroes / heroes combinations through, like.. why not change the whole dynamic? Whatever.

why not change the whole dynamic
doesn't that exist as an explanation on its own?

if you've practiced against something and know you have a good grasp for how the hero works, it stands to reason that you're okay with letting it through

maybe not the other team won, but they had other options aside from banning CK or something.

Yes, they may have had confidence. I also thought about that.

I have just seen this so many times happen to NaVi that I keep asking myself, is this really confidence or underestimation?

Or, considering they are a new team, they want to learn.

I am sorry, you don't learn in quals to Major tournaments, unless you are forced to learn. The picks they did on their own, so I don't think that is even remotely accurate.
