The drafts are an issue as well.
- Crystallize is getting destroyed in the Drow games (aka they're using that strat one too many times). That Vega game was atrocious where he got strung out on an island against MK+whatever Vega support that wanted to level up, aka they couldn't restrain Vega's support movement early game. - I think they're guarding Dendi's pick a little too much and to a point where even if they don't pick Dendi's hero until the end, the other team already knows where the draft is going. For example, you pick drow early will only leave a handful heroes and strategy for your final few picks. - Crystallize has only a few heroes he can play at this level? Not sure if this is because they're fixating on a certain strategy or if it's his hero pool. To his credit, his Void play has been exceptional given some of the lineups that he was in, like all melee cores and he needed good chrono placement to lock out a core and allow dps. Still gets left out on an island too much. - Stop picking Nyx for Rodjer or find better lineups (for or versus) to put it in, Nyx has been relatively low impact for them.

I agree with Racket, but I'll add Sonneiko to that list of problems. He plays a support as a frontline tank, always in the thick of fights, which is not how a support should be played at all. His drafts are rather weak and predictable, but I'll choke that up to experimenting.
However the biggest weakness I can see is their inability to recover from a bad fight and they quickly fall apart after that. They also play too cocky with small net worth advantages, with 5-6k advantage they act as if they've already won. I guess whoever calls the shots for the team needs to work on that first.

Today great series, Dendi was unstoppable both on brood and lina

i would disagree with the support thing because sometimes in closer games, all you need is your support to cast all their spells and throw go in. some fights or some mana pools are too fast/too low for you to get multiple uses out of your spells.
they dominate two games against vega, that's pretty good news, right?

Dude you see the date the post you're quoting? I didnt watch their series the last 2 days. My criticism towards Sonneiko was for last week. If he improved, or the team as a whole improved, good for them.

They actually played very well against Vega, and the picks were also much better.

Best and worst part of that series was the game 1 ganks on mid lane. It was bad execution but to their credit Navi didn't look panicked and more importantly Dendi didn't lose his rhythm.
Good mid game despite bad early game is good to see.

Looks like the break from games let them come up with some new wrinkles to their picks and recharge and refocus. Hope they keep it up.
If they qualify for dreamleague, I'd say new roster is a success so far. 2 minors and a major qualification is a good start worthy of the Navi name. Let's hope they can pull it off

Think even if navi doesn't go through, I'm satisfied with what they have shown.
Also, are they the only team with 2 supports that can play earth spirit?

one of the best games in recent history (looking at the 80m game). definitely check it out if you haven't already

i hope they make it through, even though they will be vs Liquid. That said, it's Navi vs Secret rematch, let's go Navi!

I missed the games
They were only 1 game close to getting 4th place at least. So sad.

Win some, lose some, roster showing promise, still a little hot and cold with play. But mostly just have to work on drafting, the team is coming along and has promise. Still got PGl minor to try to get TI points and can qualify for Dreamleague Major. It's a road to TI, not a sprint, I hope they don't get too discouraged.
|
Didn't catch the rematch. I'm mostly encouraged that this team shows promise. Never felt the same way pajkatt. Optimistic that this iteration will continue the promise navi 2016 had.
|
i think this team deserves a real chance, they do show a lot of promise on their good games, a level of coordination i havent seen in a navi team in a long long time.
You can lose games, even real madrid does, but if you are constantly getting better you are on the right track.

Well, Dendi played horribly in the second and third game today.
|
I'm OK. You don't win every game. What matters is you show character in your games. I think they are showing that they are not pushovers. Questionable drafting but overall confident that they can grow.
I think crystalize needs to improve though in terms of hero pool.
|
Yeah, it's not a problem. Even liquid needed some time. I see they're playing on good levels and they're of course experimenting and improving. They can take the time they need.

I think crystalize needs to improve though in terms of hero pool. so does dendi though, he can only play qop and lina decently well Dendi needs to improve his midgame first and foremost. Every game he has a good or even very good early game and throws it all away with weird positioning.
