They did fine with G1 draft. Then they decided to run SF/Razor/Lycan/Naga for whatever dumb reasons.
Feels like they just need to lose some more to realize that the other teams pick certain heroes for a reason. They should be fine once they start prioritizing the TA/QoP/Ember/Gyro/Necro picks that everyone else is.

|
To be fair, they didnt add rtz like yesterday, one would think that ppd got that figured out months ago

Aa this level of play, adapting takes a lil time. As wolfinthesheep said, I think they just need some more games together, this was only theier 2 and 3 official game since TI, teams like Vega and Monkey has lik 20-30 Official games by now? They are all some of the best players in their positions... With some time and practice they will shine ;-)
|
I think the problem is that they never get to play competitive matches. I mean the extend of their practice this patch is scrimming against tier 2 NA teams, I hardly think that's enough to come into a tournament like this one and be comfortable.
|
And to be honest, with the amount of money they just won, and the small price pool of MLG compared to Frankfurt, they might just take this as practice anyway, trying new things and experimenting.

i still think a huge part of the issue is ppd's drafting
but then you remember how eg performed last year out of dac and ti5 and you're like "do they even try outside of the biggest tournies"

but then you remember how eg performed last year out of dac and ti5 and you're like "do they even try outside of the biggest tournies" Well yeah the drafting is the problem, they keep on doing what worked before (and probably still work in their scrims against weaker teams) and get punished for it. SF is probably not a first pick anymore, especially on dire, razor is shit, naga is not good enough a support to justify a pick to counter the tombstone, etc

they probably need more serious energy on the team .. rtz definitely does not provide that dude so clowny

EG does well in big tournaments because the longer formats give PPD time to adapt and shine. These quicker 2-3 day tournaments aren't as good for them because they typically always suck early on.
Also the fact that people are already flaming EG/stating that bringing Arteezy back was wrong is pretty laughable. They've barely played any games as a team in this patch. Tournaments like this are basically a way to practice for the majors and earn money. If they massively fail at the major it would be cause for concern. Like goody said earlier they've always lost to teams they probably shouldn't lose to. EG with aui got eliminated in a tournament by fucking london conspiracy and that version of EG sure turned out fine.
Nobody can be sure right now whether bringing Arteezy back was the right move or not, everyone needs to stop being so reactionary.

I think he is way more serious in game then you seem to think , the guy seems in the zone while playing officials both in EG and Secret , i dont see him clowning around when its game time

calm ur tits guys, ppd cares nothing for these measly mlgs and esls. this is fear and rtz's allotted screw up time so ppd finds out what they need to work on. it's all planned, when the big tournaments come eg's gonna own them with the same heroes they sucked at during esl and mlg.
|
measly mlgs and esls? that super arrogant, those are still important tournaments. or are we real sports now, where its only about big money? i think new eg is not as good. i also dont like support fear...

Thank god they have sumail and universe to carry them, Arteezy has been playing awful this entire tournament.

Arteezy has been playing well, just because he's not dominating does not mean he's playing bad.
Best thing so far is EG has played the most games (9) of anyone in the tournament, which they need to help learn the patch. I noticed in the last 2 games against VP especially, they went with more "6.85" heroes.
Things are only looking up for EG

In the game of dota regardless of how good you are anything can happen, especially at the highest of levels there is no big difference between the best teams honestly speaking, one wrong team fight and the entire game changes.
That being said I do think most people have it spot on saying they just need to play together. Looking at VEGA and their run at TI, they had played the most games. Just getting the competition in and having "real" matches is the fastest way to learn, sure it comes with some growing pains as well but as long as you're consistently improving its all worth it. I'm not too worried about EG because I can see the growth, just hope its done in time for the major.

ForTehDarkseid where you at now? Why couldn't china hold back EG?
