I think they'll be okay if they grind out the patch a bunch. They adapted really well throughout the tournament. Also Universe was playing godly mostly. I think so too. . . They better be a little more active from now on. . . The rust was pretty evident the first few games.

For this tournament in particular the patch was pretty new for everyone. Secret, VG and iG of course had one LAN under their belt, LGD had played some online games and c9 played one series against NaVi on this patch. Now everyone has Summit behind them, for EG MLG is a few weeks away and then there's ESL a few weeks after that. The gaps aren't that big. Before TI I assume EG will also try to bootcamp in a place where they can constantly play against EU and CIS teams. Maybe they'll stay in Europe after ESL or maybe they'll go somewhere on the east coast of NA so that they can decently play on EUW.

Whether they're casted isn't necessary. I think most people are just assuming they've been laid back between MLG and this since they were very open about being laid back between DAC and MLG. You could clearly see some nutty drafts, overconfidence in their odd drafts and underestimation of opponent's odd drafts. Though, I don't know how much there is to read into it.

Obviously its good advice since he's kid and it's stupid for him to just ditch class all the time for DotA so I don't hold it against him. But it does limit what the team can participate in. They might not want to be in X tournament because of timing, rules, failure to pay out prize money, etc. Add to that Sumail missing a bunch of school and you rule out pretty much all qualifiers even if PPD didn't want to play them in the first case. So its basically down to a few big tournaments and scrims. The team is obviously a good team, but they're also limiting potential practice opportunities. Kind of becomes a balancing act with trying to get good quality practice and making sure Sumail's priorities are in order.

I have to admit, i wasn't that optimistic about EGs play at Summit after third day, but they surprised me positively against VG, and they had a good chance of winning against Secret in finals (if they hadn't made those mistake in second game), so I really want to see what strategies will they develop in the upcoming months

Speaking of Smash, is there like an EU community for it? I don't follow the scene much but I was surprised that Armada and Leffen are as good as they are when I dont see as many competitions in Europe.

Occassional lans? Yeah, probably... But "big" stuff? Nah, not really.
