The weird part is that, for as much as the panels kept talking about Bulba, he really wasn't the problem. It was clearly the coordination with Aui. But what I don't get is why they didn't switch Fear to Carry, kick Aui (again, I know) and bring Zai in as #4. They've have kept their invite.
Granted, they'd have had to convince Aui of that. Which may not have been possible. At the same time, you've got a really focused ppd and company, so I expect them to work through the Qualifiers just fine. ppd clearly trusts the core group he's got together now, so there is that.
Though Team Secret's owner may have an interesting point. Universe did just blow up their direct invite.

Then again, if u cannot win the open quals and wildcards, you wouldnt win TI...

You can't really get angry with Universe when your team was the one that messed up every other team in the first place.

I just realized all of the Charlie anger probably is because Kemal broke the news during Major. Seems it was supposed to be announced after it was finished base on Charlies tweets.

Very possible. During the Universe/RTZ & Aui/Bulba swaps, EG didn't comment until they did a formal one.

Fear don't want to play carry because of health problems. His justification is carry requires more clicking than let's say support in that case as far as I know.

I agree with you, but out there there is people who thinks a team that can be cheesed out can also beat everyone else in a tournament as big as TI. You can't blame them for dreaming.

Fear said it is not

Maelk also tweeted about universe rejoining eg, still not so sure about aui. Gonna feel for the guy if he gets the boot.

He went back to the team that treated him poorly in the past. Also this time he hasn't even performed so this time it would make sense to kick him even from an outsiders viewpoint

We'll have most of the details after everyone wakes up tomorrow. Though I imagine someone in the EG/GG/Amazon office is going to have some rather unfun contract issues to work out.

after the aui pick up, i do remember ppd or fear saying that fear was going to stay support (a lot of people thought that fear would move back to carry when aui was picked up) because it was easier for him to practice as a support vs carry.

Yeah, it's one time I think the collective fan-base ended up being correct. Though generally for reasons they didn't get. It really was Aui's in-fight decision making that was a major weaklink.

On some thought, I have some sympathy for the Valve people that are about to get a terrible earful from some Team Organizations. Last place teams made 55k at TI5. If the same split happens, it'd still be about 30k at this moment. 7th/8th may be worth 1mil USD to each team, this year. Universe deciding to ditch just cost Team Secret a LOT of money, as they're far & away unlikely to make it out of the Regional Qualifiers.
Though what this ends up highlight was always one of the failure points of the Roster Lock system: 1 player can really screw over a bunch of teams.
At this point, more than 8 Invites is an utter question. Valve just lost 2 of the top 5 years of the year. One a Major winner and the other the most consistent team of the year & defending TI champions. That's not gone as planned.
One point I like to make on how tight High-End Dota can be for outcomes: at The Summit 4 Finals, game 2. I remember in the draft that ppd changed up his bans a little, but he didn't quite realize that Spirit Breaker was really the hero that was messing up EG the most. In game 3, it got banned, and EG went on to win the series 3-2. That 1 ban changed the winner of the LAN.
Pretty much, this entire roster shuffle likely doesn't happen if EG wins the high ground push in game 3 against LGD in the group stage. They'd have beaten Fnatic and then lost to Newbee. Ensure top 6 but probably lose to the winner of TL vs Na'Vi. All for some small decision making mistakes in 1 game.

universe is so smart, knew that there was no good offlaners in na and eg would take him back whenever and decided to take a couple months paid vacation to europe. now its time to go home.
if zai also returns to eg they might get another chance to win TI.
