iirc you can dodge blue shells if you're a god but I only played time trials idk
you can dodge them if you get a boost (mushroom or off a drift) right before it comes crashing down on you.

yeah I was thinking it was some kind of boost + hop
I tried to learn to do it for double dash I think since I actually played races in that one (never played it well or anything tho)
