Waterproof is also a somewhat weird feature. Like, water-resistant, as in "can survive being in a rainstorm" is one thing, but the full on "oh, you can go swimming with it" feels unnecessary for like 95%+ of their userbase.

I think beyond that phone performance in core areas has outpaced people's needs and doubly so as people start to understand that a dying battery can affect performance. So if you want people to keep on a tight upgrade cycle with their phones you got to start pushing innovations and secondary features and selling things around image even more than before.

My main issue with lack of headphone jack is for cars that are a bit older and can only play music through aux. With a headphone jack I can both listen to music and also charge my phone up in the car. Take it away and I have to choose between the two.

Yea, but you can charge them via microUSB just like a phone and they last me usually around 6h.
Since I've got a charger in my car anyways it't no hassle at all.

Looked into those quite some time ago, all the reviews mentioned terrible audio quality and lots of skipping etc. Have you experienced differenlty?

My car is from a sweet spot of too old for USB charging and bluetooth music, but new enough to know about cell phones and phone music. So I have a special cigarette charger and aux in in the center panel between the front seats.
