Yep. Everyone who thought writing was worthless and video was the future did so because of metrics created by Facebook, which we now know are bullshit and facebook tried to cover it up. All came out in pleadings in a lawsuit.
Also Facebook was enabling genocide(like using the radio to direct lynch mobs, but with Facebook) and didn’t notice because they didn’t have anyone on staff that spoke the language of the country they had deployed Facebook in. Reporters were reporting on it, but Facebook couldn’t confirm it because they straight up couldn’t read the posts.
They deployed their service in countries where they couldn’t read any of the posts and just hoped it would work out. The reporting button still existed, but it wouldn’t do anything because no one at Facebook could understand what the post said.

Yeah. People have been warning Facebook about the rising problems in Myanmar since 2013 and from all reports Facebook didn’t do anything. They recently banned the military from using the service, but one would think that they might want to shut down the service for the entire country.
