With fax you need to be physically present to intercept the direct point to point connection as opposed to a 400 lb hacker in a basement. Also fax doesn't have attachments. Maybe the DNC should use fax

Documents that are converted into a digital format are saved and then sent over some sort of transfer medium, like email or a drop box like service. Every time that happens, a new version of the document is created. And the digital document is a copy of the original that can be altered. Law hates this because law deals in the physical world, at some point that document has to be printed out and proven to match the original. And at that point, you might as well get the original.
Faxes eliminated all of that. It is a onetime transfer of the document that cannot be reproduced without something outside of a normal fax machine. And the medium is understood to function that way. And you can’t change what comes out of a fax machine. What you put in is what comes out at the other end.
Computers solve a lot of problems for law, but not transferring and sending documents for point A to B.
Side note: Law hates email because there is no such thing as an email chain. Each email is a file. One on each computer for every email sent and received. Each email is a document. Each document must be produced during a lawsuit as part of discovery. An email chain between 5 employees that is 100 emails is a thousand emails that a law firm needs to go through and make sense of. You can’t just produce the last email in the “chain” because all files are documents and you have to provide them all.
Email is bad and has been bad for a long time.

Other thing I learned is that everyone in the office who isn't a cabinet member uses pseudonyms when they talk to constituents xD

Yeah, that seems like a bad idea in general. Unless there is an ongoing problem with constituents showing up at people’s home addresses. There was a short while we were not handing out last names because of one person the firm was dealing with.
Still, if I didn’t have to use my real name I could stop googling myself to make sure I’m super hard to find.

Don’t laugh, I had a dude we were evicting tell me to have a nice trip back home to the town I used to live in. Luckily I had moved to a new apartment, but it was super creepy. Also didn't due him any favors when my attorney dropped that fact a trial. The Judge was displeased.

Sounds like occupational hazards are pretty high, although that both should and shouldn't be surprising at a law firm.

Trying to install tableau right now and it's literally the worst experience I've ever had with a piece of software in 20+ years. It defaulted to japanese, which is understandable because that was my system default. Figured no big deal, can change it after install. No option. I'm confused, because it says there is one. Decide to change system locale/language to english and try then. No go. Try non-unicode langauge (why the FUCK does tableau care about non-unicode language???). No go. Uninstall reinstall. No go. Eventually find on their website that if you installed as a trial, there's no switch language option, and you need to totally uninstall. Which I've done. Several times. There's nothing about in the registry, nothing in program data, I've reinstalled it about 10-11x. I know Japanese well enough to read slowly, not enough to use a heavy stats program.
I was provided a registration key, but I'm reluctant to use it on the chance it'll re-enable language settings.
