forcing every player to recalibrate where many are gaining or losing significant amounts of mmr based on just a small sample size of games is silly it's not like they had 6 months aka a significant sample size of games to properly place people and only now are people going to where they belong dota already had a significant amount of uncontrollable variables that can't be accounted for when determining mmr aka how to create balanced and fair matches but randomly giving or taking significant amounts of mmr from people just adds to that uncertainty making future games more likely to be less balanced and lower quality it'd be one thing if recalibration was self-selected or was only forced on people who had played under X number of games in the last month, but a blanket recalibration for everyone where everyone's mmrs, which again, were determined through 6 months of gameplay, are being shuffled around serves no purpose other than appeasing reddit the 4.5k player who's now 5k because he went 6-4 in placement matches isnt magically any better and any team he's on going forward is slightly more likely to lose as a result of this, and vice versa also applies | ||
