Some more info about Kiseki series. Trails of Cold Steel 1+2 are apparently the equivalent of FC for Trails in the Sky. Trails of Cold Steel 3/4 (3 isn't translated yet and no concrete plans for it yet) will be the equivalent of SC for Cold Steel. Also, Cold Steel 3 apparently basically requires you to have played the crossbell arc. Been playing it in the original japanese, it's quite good. I'd say I'm only getting ~90% of the meaning of most sentences, but that's a massive step up from the rather shitty leaked translation from last year. | ||

I'm gonna wait for the English Trails of Cold Steel 4 to be honest, because that'll also be for PC if XSEED does it. I will probably not play Cold Steel 3 until 4 gets announced for PC/Steam to be honest. Played Cold Steel 1 and didn't think it was as good as Sky 1. And like... 4 RPGs? Seriously? I hope their next region will be a duology and that the rest of their games will be duologies. Given that Cold Steel 3 and 4 are probably stapled together, I wouldn't be surprised if XSEED negotiate them simultaneously, same with the Zero/Azure duology. Yeah, essentially they just messed up the planning process and Cold Steel 1 went way over (1+2 were supposed to be one game) and now they're at 4 games. Trails of Cold Steel 3 is supposed to be amazing, but with a cliffhanger even worse than Trails in the Sky 1. The hang up may actually be that without having played Crossbell Trails of Cold Steel 3 apparently makes very little sense, and that is a mess and a half. (The denouement of cold steel 2 has the protagonist of the Crossbell series, if you were wondering what it was about) Supposedly Trails of Azure (the second crossbell game) is one of the other really good games, essentially being SC for Crossbell. However, it is a pain in the ass to work with. There's no japanese version for PC and the chinese version has DRM that literally checks for some field every second, making it awfully slow. If I want to read it I'll probably have to write a texthooker (I have the source code of one someone wrote for zero and it's not terribly complicated) for PC and use some mod people made to insert japanese back into it. There's too much weird terminology for me to think I could really make it through without a texthooker, but we'll see. The Crossbell games that Falcom definitely has access to are PSP games (the PC ones were coded by a chinese company), so Xseed might possibly have to basically code their own versions for PC, as literally no one outside of Japan is going to buy a PSP or Vita game (there are vita versions). | ||
