I heard that is a common complaint among people who feel the need to write user reviews. But then again, they are the people who write user reviews. Which are like folks who are deep into writing youtube comments.

I find i don't have/make time for good single player games anymore. I haven't played through all of horizon, haven't picked up a switch for odyssey, BotW or XB:C 2, probably won't touch god of war, have but haven't played Shadows of War... the list goes on. Kinda sad that I'm missing them, i guess... but they just feel like such lonely experiences.

I could see that, but I enjoy them for the same reason I love watching how movies are made. I’m pretty deep into reading developer diaries, post mortems of completed games and I’m a sucker for a good concept art book. Games are slowly trying to grow into a larger, more comprehensive medium and that means people are going to try new things. And I liked seeing what they pull off. I never though I would give a shit about another GoW game, but this one is better than most of the games I played all last year.

There was a lack of satisfying bosses in this GoW which is something I felt the previous ones had. Stranger was dope though.
Actually I really enjoyed the valks

There are some good side fights, but you are right that they don’t have any stand out bosses. Great set pieces that I believe make up for it. I also think the Stranger was better than almost every boss fight in the other three god of war games. But in a game focused on combat arenas, the game did very well at giving me a good variety of those.

I enjoyed the game but I keep thinking that they held back for sequels. (not really a problem though since the other games sort of built up to a grand finale)

(not really a problem though since the other games sort of built up to a grand finale) I do feel they held back on the huge bosses, but I believe that was a creative choice. The story is more intimate and focused on Kratos’s son, so it needed more restraint. And that bled over into the combat, where I think they wanted to nail down the feel of the combat and avoid being spread to thin. There was good enemy variety too

Single player keeps me playing video games. Though mostly good ones or those that build on a franchise connected with childhood memories but aren't actually that good of a game. Blizzard, I'm talking about you.
The never ending story of competitive online games just sucks too much time for me. The switch is fantastic in that regard. Just put it away and wake it up at the exact same second as before. Faruko saw this like a year ago and I didn't think much of it until I experienced it for myself.
|
I'm the opposite. Playing SC/CS/Dota for two decades makes it hard for me play games if they are not competitive. If I'm playing a single player it's basically just for a story and lore that I like because gameplay wise I'm rarely hooked. And it needs to be a binge session or I lose interest and won't boot the game for months. At that point I feel disconnected and start over from the beginning again.

even for strategy games?
i also get bored of most non-competitive non-dark souls gameplay but strategy games can still hook me
|
It depends on the single player game. Some have systems complex enough to make me want to dig deep and figure out how to solve those combat puzzles. RTS games fall into that.

So I got reminded of the dicks of destiny incident a bit ago. Because apparently he's decided to move onto screaming about politics on youtube. I'm not sure why I'm surprised, but how the fuck is he still relevant?

There is a market for white edgelord men affirming the edgelord belief system on youtube. He was just way ahead of the market and we didn't know it.

But he's insufferable for sure. doesn't seem like he gets a ton of views though

Its like saying you support helping the poor, but then get upset for being guilted by charities asking for donations.
Its all the good feelings of being one of the "good ones" and none of the hard work or conflicted feelings.

I was informed that Destiny has repented for his weird "everyone should talk about raping opponents" free speech stances and is now just kind of a generic jackass. Still have no interest in hearing from him about anything.
|
He had a weird interview with the shit stain that is JonTron a while ago which was like someone interviewing the himself from an alternative timeline. It has this whole "If having a child didn't make me slightly self aware, this is totally who I would be right now" vibe.
