Saber is a decent waifu but awful as a combat unit. Neither Shiro nor Kiri were able to use her as any more than a glorified paper weight who more or less loses any head on battle due to her ineptitude and moral handicaps. In some parallel universe where she isn't burdened by terrible tropes and having to play love interest to shiro she would be literally indestructible and have infinite mana if her abilities where used correctly - leading to some sort of silly tank that just stands there shooting infinite excaliburs

SSY had female characters? I mean I guess there was the MC, but she was pretty bland and empty, there was the second chick who was essentially around to be afraid of things, and there was the grandma who was pretty cool, but apart from that... the rat queens?
I really don't know where that's coming from, especially because SSY lacked characterization in the extreme, which is part of why I stopped watching (I don't care about the people that these things are happening to)

I disagree, i really liked Saki's character. She grew with the world as you explored it and learn the secrets of it. Also i think you might be mixing up Maria with Mamoru considering that Maria was fairly strong-willed while Mamoru was scared of his own shadow.
