I think Scott Adams had it Yes. isn't he actually a huge asshole for some reason am I making that up I mean dilbert is good either way just wondering No, he's just odd for the most part and presents a more public view of some controversial things than most would. Wouldn't describe him as an asshole, though he can be really provoking/manipulative/greedy and probably wouldn't be called nice by most people... he sort of trolls the internet for fun, I remember in like 2005 he wrote a blog piece arguing that Iran was more democratic than the US. He didn't actually think that, he just wanted to annoy people and didn't clarify his stance until he was paid to write articles for the WSJ years later. He also advocated (as a thought experiment) trying out the method of "only invest in corporations you hate" since they seemed to do wildly successful (I think he used exxon-mobile and I want to say... apple? as his examples).
The thing most likely to have made everyone think he was a huge asshole - He also wrote some blogs that somehow pissed off everyone on every side of the whole men's rights movement stuff, he first wrote a blog backing one side then the next day wrote that he was being sarcastic the entire time in his previous post and called everyone idiots who hadn't been able to grasp that. Then after everyone was super angry he basically said "well, I was being sarcastic about that too." Then it was "oops, streisand effect" and wrote a blog about why he shouldn't write a blog about the topic and won't talk about it anymore. So like if you only know of him for his most infamous moments then he won't come across well, but his blog is generally just kind of amusing.
On the other hand... he believes that teaching methods should only use positive reinforcement and that negative methods are wildly ineffective, that pointing out someone's mistakes will force them to focus on their mistakes rather than on what they actually do well, which is something I ponder when I see people teaching dota or BW.

It's pronounced more like "Kah-toh-vi-tzeh" (damn it's hard to write Polish pronounciation like that).
Anyway, you foreigners are lucky the event does not take place in a city like Szczecin, Bydgoszcz or Częstochowa. Or, god forbid, the infamous town of Szczebrzeszyn.

I think the entire world is glad that nothing ever happens in Connecticut because that is the dumbest way possible to spell how it is pronounced.
If something took place in one of those cities I'm sure we could butcher it into something properly american, the way we did with Versailles

I would just say sazachbryan's zen. Is that how it's pronounced? I'm sure it isn't. I'm sure I could convince a plurality of my neighbors to call it that though.

Yes, its mostly like "vee".
As for Szczebrzeszyn, it's pronounced like "Sh-ch-eb-rh-esh-yn", with the "y" a bit like the short English "i". The "rh" is like "sh", only made from "r" instead of "s". The name is a part of the famous Polish tounge-twister: "W Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie a Szczebrzeszyn z tego słynie."

I am familiar with this name. Welsh is even more fucked up than Polish when it comes to pronounciation. Still, we have some fun names and surnames, like Szczepan, Błaszczykowski, or Brzęczyszczykiewicz.

Okay so why are the names so ducked I'm actually really interested
when everything was named was it just standard to name a town really long and arduous to pronounce?

Sounds more like directions than a name, really.

It's actually just how Polish language is. We use a lot of sounds like sz, cz, rz, ś, ć, and also ą, ę, ł. We generally have longer words than English - three, four, five syllables in a word are a commonplace. Il give you an example of a sentence "The International is the biggest and most important Dota championship in the event calendar":
"The International to największe i najważniejsze mistrzostwa w Dotę w kalendarzu rozgrywek"
Also we have a whole bunch of inflections for nouns and verbs and other juicy stuff. This Wikipedia page describes it rather well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_language
Some say Polish is the most difficult language to learn in the world, but I personally think such a statement is a bit exaggerated.
EDIT: oh, i thought you were asking me xD still you get a nice post about our fucked up language xD
