should EG have to play the quals, probably not, but letting them bully organizers is fucking nasty. Its not fair to other teams, you can't allow them to run roughshod over the scene because they're currently highly desirable, 2 years ago no one gave a shit if EG showed up or not. | ||

When they try to reason it out they make nonsensical arguments like "it would be good for the scene if they don't play", because there is just no way to justify what they want. People can argue about some qualifiers being too long or something, but the idea that a team should not have to play just because they are going to win anyway is just ridiculous. | ||

I thought in the reddit thread the rules were supposed to be US-BR-US(if needed), is that not true? The whole "I'm too good for qualifiers" atitude is already douchy. It's just dumb. the position itself isn't douchy, there are some really interesting and valid arguments about why S-class teams shouldn't be in qualifiers. it's just PPD is doing his best to be douchy about it lols. I think one of the strongest arguments is that having a team like EG in the quals is that it essentially removes a spot from an up and coming team to break into the scene. I understand why tournaments don't want 'XYZ team' playing 15 streamed matches when they could have EG but for the overall growth and development of dota, I can see the merits. | ||

It doesn't create another slot in the tournament. If you have two slots, with qualifers, EG and one more team qualify. If you have no qualifiers, EG plays and one more team qualifies. Inviting teams is good for the tournament in the sense that it guarantees the good teams will not be eliminated by a fluke if you do short, double elim qualifiers. There is no reasonable argument why it would make the main tournament better in the case the favorite qualifies anyway. | ||
