CM with Blink/force and maybe a ghost scepter is amazing in early fights, her ult does tons of damage if you actually manage to get a full duration, or even a half duration off during a fight. Granted, the last time I played CM I ended up killing myself 2-3 times on Blademail, so...>.> | ||

If anything, 90% of supports that pull get more out of farm than she does, so she's better in a situation where 0/4 supports in a game get to farm until 15+ minutes, because the ones that farm better than her without being allowed to pull for the first 10 minutes are all ass in lane. | ||

Except now she gets picked even less than before she got the Brilliance Aura buff in the first place, because shifting her early mana into aura FORCES you to take it, removing the option of going straight double nukes for maximized burst damage/killing your lane if you want your mana management to be not awful. | ||

CM allows you to run some heroes as support that you simply couldn't run any other way. She was directly linked to things such as the rise of support WK and support Alchemist. In addition, she gave a lot of power to certain high-activity offlane and safelane heroes. This was a pretty awesome upside, along with her jungle-farming ability. You could make up for the shitty body with items you could get faster than other heroes. However, three things have gone wrong for her. First, gold gain for supports has been reorganized so thoroughly that outside of the few insane jungle farmers like Enigma, support farm is far less about getting extra gold off the map. Her ability to jungle farm just doesn't mean nearly as much as it once did, quite like how Veno isn't valued for that trait either. Second, her base stats were nerfed some, making the base hero model even more of a liability. It gets harder to justify having something that bad. Finally, there are far better ways of getting mana these days. Bottles are stronger than ever before, Aquila has become a default pickup, and the buff to Clarity helps to fill the gap for supports. There aren't many heroes that CM can be used to enable any longer, not with all these other methods available. There are still probably niche drafts where CM would be excellent, but they're rare. If we want to see CM return to the game, it would probably have to be on the back of massive nerfs to the game's main mana items or significant buffs to her base stats. Or they could just make Frostbite silence and go through BKB. That'd probably get her into competitive. | ||
