Students would be able to play something by the end of a lesson, come back next week and actually be worse...
yeah that's teaching in a nutshell. you'd expect every student to be as into it as you and that's simply not the case.
but I have fun with it, at least I can be creative in my profession even with every politician thinking they know how to teach better than a teacher.

Students would be able to play something by the end of a lesson, come back next week and actually be worse... Thats mostly the student not putting in the time between lessons, rather than teaching. The same frustration exists in bands if there is a member that neglects their practice. That shouldn't stop you from teaching, because you will find a student that improves between classes and that is literally one of the greatest things ever. Also, understanding child development is very helpful when teaching younger people, since its reminds you they do not possess all the same "learning skills" you do.
I have always wanted to make a lesson plan for teaching dota from the ground up. It would be a good mental exercise on what it takes to learn and improve at the game.

Students would be able to play something by the end of a lesson, come back next week and actually be worse... They are probably just not interested in trying to learn guitar Emu.
My friend(one of those who tried to teach me lol) managed to learn a guitar without actually having his own guitar but since he was really motivated to learn everytime he had a chance to borrow one he would go 100% focus on it.
on my case as well. I have 4 people trying to teach yet i haven't learned anything outside (stand by me) cause i wasn't really interested at it.

Watching my fiancee for the past 3 years teaching has shown me I have no interest in ever doing it. Granted she is paid decently well, but right now she's 'stuck' in Philadelphia school district and as a music teacher has to worry about her job almost every year.
Her private students she likes, though she does hate it when they don't practice. With the house we're also getting a piano so that means instead of travelling to her students they'll come to her. That'll make things a lot easier once we get that all set up. Though I will have to figure out how soundproof our upstairs is.
|
Pro-tip, do not plan on putting the piano up stairs. And if you do, make sure you find out how much it weighs and if the stairs can support it. Same with the entrance to the house if you have wooden stairs or a landing.
Pianos are fucking heavy and the bane of every house. They literally have their own separate insurance for moving companies in some states. Many an eviction has been stalled due to the random piano.

ya its not a glamorous job, you have to really like what you do.
I hope her job situation improves, all those extracurricular positions (music, art, sports teams, etc) are always in jeopardy.
even my job is bc im young so im low man on the totem pole, and enrollment is dipping a bit.

i hate teaching because oftentimes you are more involved in the learning process than the students themselves. they also expect you to know the material better than they do so it feels like you're learning and teaching the shit at the same time cause lets be honest - if you weren't a bio major, nobody expects you to remember the chemical structure of atp or whatever. unless you happen to be an ap bio teacher, at which point you got to have that shit down even if the students don't give a fuck about memorizing it themselves.
had this happen to me a lot way back when i used to tutor kids for SATs

PPD is grump and on a role. 80% chance UG gets banned from MLG and nearly 100% that he flames them if they play today.

its also fun when they ask questions whose answers are rooted in calculus concepts you haven't touched in 10 years XD
but if its an interesting question that they can understand the answer to, and I don't know it off hand, I let them go find the answer themselves for some bonus points via my classroom currency.
they go nuts for that stuff.

As Jonassomfan isnt a complete sentence its not that easy to translate it. One of the reasons it gets confusing is because the swedish word "som" needs the rest of the sentence to be fully understood.
The real meaning of "fan" is indeed satanic but the translation would be the devil and not hell. But the way we use it as it is a curse word would more correctly translate to the way english speakers use the word fuck. So if you want to understand what he is saying you have to see it as a curse word who amplifies the meaning of the rest of the sentence and not the actual meaning of the word.
So the translation would be Jonasasfuck or Jonaslikefuck but the meaning as I understand it should be Jonas amplified or Jonas emphasized. If we really wanna butcher the translation we could end up with Jonaswhomfucks.
