i'm infuriated on how they conveniently give matilda telekenesis at the later portion of the movie .. i was really enjoying the show without it .. it's like she typed poweroverwhelming did you read the book? it has a book ? didn't this was a book adaptation .. what about the book ? i'm ok with a spoiler i'm watching it at HBO now I'd insert a facepalm image here but I'd have to warn myself.

Do it anyway, would be hilarious to see a mod's post with a warning underneath.

Being young is when you hear about Roald Dahl, regardless of when you were born.

21 (i'm born 2 yrs just after matilda movie came out and i'm not even born yet when the novel came out .. googled it)
And i spent majority of my childhood holed up in an internet cafe and watching all kinds of cartoons and anime.
Roald Dahl must be a EU/NA thing.

education is terrible here and we don't even have a proper literature classes and books are expensive(no matter what kind of books).

err, I'm from SEA (same country as you even, I think) but I knew of Roald Dahl books (Willy Wonka, Matilda, Big Friendly Giant, etc) growing up and just 3 years older lol.
Then again my parents did want me to read a lot and bought me a lot of books and took me to bookstores a lot back then.
EDIT: your post above might explain why you've never heard of it.

I'm 24 so not much older than you. My point was that most read or at least hear about Roald Dahl when they're young.
|
I don't know who roald Dahl is and I have many leather bound books
|
I knew it's just about me living in a poorer condition lol
Since i was the youngest in my family my parents didn't particularly care about what i do as long as i don't cause trouble and i was extremely lazy as fuck. So i spent majority of my childhood either in an internet cafe locally or at my aunts house getting spoiled and watching cable.
I've read books on my own accord when i was young but i read book randomly like i read John Grisham books into some guys documented biography into some sci-fi book(i forgot the title but it was about an alien space ship submerging into the sea, greek mythology and some scientist trying to uncover the secrets about it) i forgot the title into some pocketbook targetted for young teenagers.
Pretty sure i've read books but mostly my attention was playing computer games and watching anime and cartoons.
So it could also be just my lifestyle or my type of books that i read since i just read whenever there is one regardless of whatever the book story is about but i don't look for books to read if there isn't

Redomine is a different case since he is already a avid reader back when he was young and his family probably has a knack when it comes to books.
Idk dude never heard of him nor did we tackle about the author or his books ever before.(but it could just be poor education)
The books i've read or learned from school are Noli me tangere, el filibusterismo, The Count of Monte Cristo and some other filipino made books.

I mostly read Polish books in my childhood, like a lot of them. Mostly coz it was hard to get other books when my parents were kids and I read mostly ones we already owned
