The amazing, 4chan-like feeling of a hivemind is what appeals to people in twitch chat. (chats on 4chan streams are like the best btw). The sheer quantity of messages removes any personality from any single one, leaving one crazy mob behind. Sometimes they are an angry mob, sometimes they are a drunk, festive mob, mostly they are a mob full of retards. I get it and occasionally I enjoy it ,until it's like 5k people, after that i just hide it most of the time.

They had a great interview on NPR about how they loved the name Milo Green because they got to make up a story about who he was every time someone asked. And even after the interview, people and reporters still ask.

Edit: I enjoy twitch chat because its silly and harmless. Its when sets of people in that chan-culture starts abusing the anonymity to harm others that is really bothers me. That shit is going to ruin the internet for all of us.
