My eyes change colour almost every day. They are usually a weird shade of blue but they can get pretty green at times.

targaryen's have purple eyes ? holy fuck i read 3 books of asoif and i don't remember that detail
but whoever doing that artificial mutation thing .. they need to step up their game i want to see a girl in a pretty white dress with blood red eyes( the sparkling red) but that's probably awful irl

tbh it's probably just fine in terms of looks, the only issue is creating a gene that creates a red-colored protein that only manifests in the irises and does absolutely nothing else
honestly people are all gung-ho about eugenics either as proponents or doomsayers but I don't realistically see us being able to do anything major in humans within the century

I'm only half way through book #1 but I don't remember that being a thing. Maybe it doesn't get introduced until later on? I'm assuming the shows make a bigger deal out of it than the books do.

in the books purple eyes are one of the signature traits of targaryans but they are not the only ones who have them, and the distinctive hair and eye genes seem to be recessive so there are those with targaryan blood without these traits. it is quite rare but there are a few other characters with no known valyrian ancestry who have purple eyes as well.
the show dropped the purple eyes because they couldn't get it to look a way they liked.

That's really one of the easiest things to do. Maybe you know more than me, but compared to something that has a functional effect a colour-reporter is on the simpler end of the scale.

Random wiki image because I'm too lazy to find actual examples, but localising flourescent reporters is routine. It's probably a five-ten-year problem if you could find a board to approve the highly questionable ethics.
In the meantime, contact lenses are very good at generating creepy-as-balls eye colours.

basically the ethics are the problem
it's not enough to be 80-90% sure for human applications, and not even 95% is really good enough. you need to be 100% certain before you create a human life with the potential for some completely unforeseen and crippling disorder simply for the sake of the parents' own aesthetic taste
if it's something like getting rid of some crippling genetic defect that we're very clear about, like cystic fibrosis or sickle cell, then that's totally something that could happen within the next 50 years
