so many people complained that they travelled to seattle just to see team ___ yet didn't see their team on stage. So valve are fixing that. But they can't have every team on stage plus all the playoffs properly in 4 days. so now its 6

I know those venues are mind blowing amounts of cash to rent, but that might not apply to during the week.

They can afford it.

I think you mean revenue
edit: but yeah i agree with you, I think they have the $$$ and we're going to Key Arena for 6 days. I'm just curious how much money they actually make from TI

Also true. The real question is, will the faceless void remodel come before they release the new compendium?
|
If im in town il stop by. Il be back in school in Northampton by then and im not sure if il be in boston that weekend.

I mean, $36M is the revenue from that particular stream not $27M. I definitely meant profit although I'm aware that there were other costs than just what went to the prize pool.
I'm also glad that we can travel to seattle on a weekend, a day or two in advance if we want, get some time in seattle, and when it's all over we have another free day before we have to get back to work. Basically bookmarking the tournament with weekends makes a lot more sense IMO since your average attendee will have to travel etc.
Its slightly more awkward for online viewers since most matches are during the week I guess, but the grand finals are on a saturday anyway so thats great.

tournament oversaturation

Seems like G-League and KDL handle oversaturation far better than their competitors.

I've recently visited needsmorejpeg.com so it took me a while to realize what exactly the joke is there

yeah i got you
Really happy they'll be having 6 days of main event, looks like they'll be bringing back the larger final bracket which I think was a better viewing experience. I'll be in Seattle for sure.
Invites in early May, this means teams literally have 4 months to impress. I know this is how it always is, but right now I can only think of a handful of teams that I might invite, and most of them aren't even stable.

A year ago right now EG still had Jeyo and MSS, Newbee didn't exist, VG was considered a T2 team, and people still thought Alliance was a good team. A lot can change in the time between January and May.

Fuck, all that happened in four months. Damn.
And everyone forget the annual right before TI non-sense patch.
|
I forgot where but I read sometime last year that valve has booked the arena for the next 3 years or something
so I'm pretty sure it's 6 days for playoffs (main event) group stages would probably be done on lan but not played live or something?
idk i'm just throwing shit out there
|
group stages will probally be done the same way they have been done in all recent TIs, live on "LAN" but without an audience.
|
eh, they'll probably have a viewing area for the group stages for VIPs like they did last year too

Can use the fact that she's never been to Washington to further help this strategy.
