went marching on Saturday and Sunday (many of marches are right where I live). They ruled and there are so many people and it is genuinely so heartening to see the amount of support from ~everyone, including all the cars that are gonna be stuck for a while. We turned a corner by Grand Army Plaza on Saturday afternoon and a middle-aged black woman was about to make a left turn onto a busy street and just stopped her car in the middle of the street and put her hands up in the "hands up, don't shoot" gesture and everyone marching did it back. I teared up when it happened and keep tearing up now thinking about it. Also taking over the manhattan bridge whipped ass. (I am taking a break from marching because I figure theres a pretty good chance i am infected with covid now) i basically agree with andy that theres not a whole bunch of middle-ground to some of this stuff, it is really just bad. I guess i've been a little annoyed at (mostly middle-aged middle-of-the-ground liberal) folks who are determined to label ~all property damage as coming from outside agitators because they can't deal with the idea that people protesting for a cause that they support are doing things that they disagree with (and, I guess, can't handle the fact that some people are just looting to loot and that doesn't detract from the protests!) idk i don't have a point to much of this just posting | ||

It's ridiculous to state that this killing was anything else but business as usual and a long term career political calling it a turning point is just trying to pander the populace. As if anything is any different now than it was before. Turning point insofar as he can ride existing momentum now instead of creating it himself. We've had that kind of speeches here too - when a Nazi murdered again. Another "lone wolf", again. Not buying it. | ||
