Even though the other team just deathballed and ended in 20 minutes Like I said they would.. Some games are simply unwinnable I'd rather pick to the team than the meta, and I've had some games where CM was exactly the right pick. CM, Jugg, offlane bristle, mid necro, jungle enigma. It's not like that lineup is awful, and CM isn't really in thaaaaaat bad of a spot, really. She never had much base damage to speak of, so the fact that she hits like a ranged creep now is just a small step down from hitting like a catapult. On another topic, I started playing solo ranked again, and am actually feeling fucking good about it. Perhaps I'm not totally awful after all.

I have no idea why, just does. I make sure to get some mana-hungry low-int heroes to pair with her, such as Slark or Ursa, who can handle themselves pretty well. It works quite well. Just find something comfortable that you can play along the hero that the other player is clearly comfortable with.

I've played with people who were probably the equivalent of 1k or below, long before DOTA2 was even a glimmer in Gaben's eye. It's really just a test of whoever manages to get the best idea of how to play and execute well. So much is completely random, like the guy who got Mithril Hammers on Tiny. And because we were all friends, and none of us really knew how to play, it was a huge amount of fun. Then I went and learned the game seriously and could stomp them all effortlessly and it stopped being fun. There's a lesson there, really.

I will never apply that mentality to DotA though, it is serious business. I'm talking about the level of "better" where simply my mechanics were so far ahead that it did not matter what I did. I was guaranteed to win just based on my sheer ability. For reference, this was the group of friends that I won a 1v11 in with WC3. Emerald Gardens, of course. There's no fucking way that should have happened. They could have picked 11 Undead and sent their starting Ghouls to all attack-move into my base. I would have lost. But I was so much better, comparably, that it didn't matter. That's why it stopped being fun. Not that I was tryharding and obliterating them that way.

Deathball strats place Sentries with the push to stop Moonlight Shadow/Nyx initiations/whatever half the time anyways. It's relatively effortless to drop a few Sents to completely neutralize one player's damage output. And this happens even in pubs. In the games I play, at least.

She's got too weak a lane to justify always being picked, but she used to be my go-to support in any game where a counterpick / synergy pick wasn't obvious. CM does everything decently and can support almost any lineup. She does all three of the greedy/aggro/defensive roles, it's just... low base stats across the board make life hard.
