No, you should be punished if you're gone long enough to get an abandon. If you're having an issue that causes you to not be able to get back for >5 minutes then that's an issue and people should not be expected to wait for that. 1~2 is fine, anything more than that is excessive and is punished accordingly. Such as Valve's servers being utter hogshit?

It hasn't happened to me in months. I just know that it's an ongoing thing that they do. So why again do we punish players for Valve's failures?

why even play ranked when valve are such failures

and then there are some orgs/people actually considering taking up YouPorn's offer which should be a sign of something about this culture and business as a whole. It doesn't show anything about the business as a whole when there has been such a resounding ''no'' from the industry.... Yes, from developers and companies, not from all teams and people. no need to punctuate with an ellipsis lol
Teams and people are more liberal than those old farts hence why there hasn't been a resounding no as it really doesn't matter.

So it hasn't happened to you in a few months, most of the times that people experience lag aren't valve's fault, and if it is there are huge potions of the community that are very verbal about it pretty constantly.
And then you still choose to play ranked.
No, no I really don't see a problem for morons losing MMR for this.

160K viewers on Ferrari's stream, wtf. Obscene numbers. How much must Chinese LoL players get, then?

numbers are inflated by a huge amount, like x3 or something.

The punishment should be getting the +1 abandon. If you come back for whatever reason and manage to win, you should get the win (as long as you weren't still disconnected of course). Not having any reason to play after you've abandoned screws your team over more.
tldr: you are still punished by getting an abandon and being one step closer to low priority. If you rejoin the game and win, you should get a win accordingly.

Abandon and a loss for a won game makes no sense and just makes you feel like shit.

You've probably given your team a fairly significant disadvantage, I don't see why you should participate in the W if your team manages to bring it back to a victory.
Obviously there are cases where your internet goes down as a godlike tinker at 25 mintes, and you reconnect 6 minutes later to learn your team didn't pause at all, but in MOST cases I dunno why you should get a shot at a win when you've probably given your team a loss.
