Reddit is a content aggregator, it's a service. People use the service. It costs money to run the service. They monetize with advertising. The same rules apply to individuals with no commercial interest and to corporations with. To say that they only have these rules "so people buy ads" is a bit childish. What's the problem? | ||

The thought process isn't dumb, but it's dumb to assume that reddit isn't going to try to make money when they can. They're a business. Unless you count the website itself as content, or the karma, or whatever. | ||
