I'm pretty sure this was a "lets hope nobody notices" kind of shit because releasing an official statement along the lines of avoiding a Chinese final wasn't going to cut it. Why would the players not notice, that's the most oblivious thing that no one could think. And if you were a professional you would contact the tournament admins and ask what's up with it instead of saying "These fucking assholes thought they could change the bracket without anyone noticing" in public, when you are even part of the event yourself.
You'd have to be completely delusional to think you can change the bracket a day before and think no one would notice. This should be obvious, and thus, you should assume that it's an error or miscommunication. In either case, it's not "they are doing something behind our backs."
I think it's fascinating how often the public can't identify what's a mistake or not from organisations. They see something is wrong, and they assume it was that way by design.

Guys, just a small question (a bit off-topic): how does the DotaBuff site define whether the match is a VH/H/N bracket? I got a VH match few days ago and that's that, the rest went back to normal bracket.
|
The VH/H/N distinction used to be visible in the Dota client itself. Maybe the information is still there somewhere, and DB can retrieve it, it's just not visible to players?
Weird that you would go from N to VH, I believe the VH bracket starts somewhere around 3.8K MMR.

I thought so too, but yesterday I was queueing with a friend and we got stacked with someone who was a 4.9Kish guy (the other team had someone with a similar rating too), yet it's written as a normal bracket. Welp. Everyone was above 4k either.

The normal, high, very high thing seems totally broken
My games swap between high and normal randomly and then when I'm shacking and it's 4k+ average it's either very high or normal
It looks like sometimes there's just no data for what bracket it is so it looks like normal

Games with non counted stats are always normal, that may be why.

What do you mean by that "Hmmmm"? ESL doesn't want StarLadder to cast their tournament. I'm sure they have legitimate reasons for that. Sometimes it seems like people are just fishing for drama, jesus fucking christ.

These are full games, stats counted

That's one WEIRD incident if it were true.

Cocktail of passive-aggression.

After what I heard about V1lat I am not surprised that they didn't want him to cast ESL One. Or he is referring to Tobi/joinDota because of Starladder.
