Regular blocking was stronger in Dota 1 anyway, you had to be careful not to let the enemy creeps end up under your tower.

I don't know why it's attributed to Arteezy when that block's been known for years since DotA 1.

'the block where you start at the tower' > 'rtz block'

I think he knows what it refers to

i know
that's not an arrow it's a greater sign, i was was trying to be facetious

point is, as a convenient naming scheme 'rtz block' is a lot easier to say/recognize even if he wasn't the originator.

How did the "RTZ block" start? Did you just feel that the blocking could be improved? I’d like to hear the story of how you got the idea to start doing it. [DrPandaPhD]

Back in the days, I used to fiend on Teamspeak with some of the now C9/Liquid/NEL players and we were always talking about certain mechanics and aspects of the game. Clairvoyance told me there is probably a way to control the pathing of units just based off some random observations from mid players in matches and I just started playing around in single player with him. Eventually, we found a great spot on the Radiant side. It is not the same one in Dendi’s Dota 1 video which everyone seems to be saying! If anything, I give credit to Clairvoyance.

Maybe he's lying or confused, but Arteezy claims the block is different. I never played Dota 1 so IDK.
Did you ever say Yes to a single joy?

Dire block has the issue that when passing the T2 tower, if you block too hard, one of the creeps goes around the the tower and you have to stop your block to stay ahead of that creep and pick up your block again after it rejoins the other creeps. The Radiant creep wave passes further from the T2 tower so this doesn't happen.

It happens less than in DotA 1 because creep pathing is better, but it still happens.

Apparently it's different to the one in DotA 1, but then again what do I know

this is correct, rtz blocks at a different position than what people did in dota1...it's less random as well

Next level free lane wins.

Also, even when you don't block them into a line, the creep that you missed meets the rest of the creeps earlier than in DotA 2 (in DotA 2 if one of the creeps goes around the left side of the tower, you're almost at the T2 tower by the time it meets the rest of your creeps--in DotA 1, you can be blocking it again just a little bit in front of the ramp).

How does dota 1 achieve the creep equilibrium changes of 6.79? Does anybody know how that has effected side-lane creep blocking in Dota 1?

its attempts the same thing, creeps spawn with a speed buff/debuff and slowly does away as they head to lane. Its still blockable as it is in DotA2 since the speed of the creeps have little to do with the AI but if you're not familiar with it it can still be problematic.
When in doubt, just believe in yourself and press buttons

I just played with a dude with 3330 MMR. Don't worry, guys. He's a fucking tournament player. Said so himself. Better than EE, but not as good as Burning. He's only not a pro because he's so busy he can't join a team. So he's gotta just play in like amateur tournaments n shit. Just you wait, though. He's the next rtz but better. So watch out for this dude, with his 3330 MMR over 1400 games, because he is one tough motherfucker.

It was absolutely meant to be vindictive. If I could convince you to throw a rock through his bedroom window, I would. But I don't know where he lives, and I don't have a rock to give you. But if I did, it'd say "follow your dreams!" on it.

Tobi's duet with Bulba for those of you that missed it:

One bright day in the middle of the night, Two dead boys got up to fight; Back to back they faced each other, Drew their swords and shot each other.
