There are pubstompers for all roles. In general it's just heroes that kills stuff, that's how you win pubs. A well played earthshaker/wisp/enchantress is as big of a pubstomper as a well played storm/potm/qop.

A lot of the arguments I hear is like "But it doesn't matter if I kill the opponents mid when my mid miss 50% of the lasthits."
50% is still more than being dead.

HOWEVER for people who really are better than their team a snowball mid will tend to win them the game more than any other role.

One of the dota-myths

Its not a myth. If you play a snowball mid then you have the capacity to win every lane. Which means if you are better than everyone on both teams you can single-handedly win the game by winning your lane, and then repeatedly ganking sidelanes. Which makes it the safest way to ensure your team doesn't throw harder than you can carry.

But that's a big IF.

Yea I don't agree with it being a myth either. Mid role will almost always have the highest impact in a game(or the lowest if you fail).

This usually means that it will be naturally easier to get to your true rating as your impact in a large number of games overall will affect if you win or lose.

I myself play supports most of the time and get carried ez life. why even sweat in the midlane D:

constantly ganking sidelanes is probably one of the reasons why people cant snowball on mids, your first big item comes too late and you lose too much xp, killing your chance to get totally out of control

but ofc theres million ways to play dota successfully, what you do is matter of preference and if it works then it's good

lifestealer and NP also have 46% winrates.

remember these stats apply to 2.4k mmr where the carry players are selfish as fuck and IMO the greatest struggle of some mid heroes is against their own team.... my tinker was 26% back at 2400mr and i was shouting myself hoarse trying to explain to people what my abilities do, hoping they would come in after my initiation, telling them to group up and push again and again on completely deaf ears.......(please take mid tower now...pls....pls....pls do something.....anyone..??)

ESL can't do anything big in DotA until they rebrand and create a "separate studio/line that they technically dont own" ala EG/Alliance to get around the issue of Riot-approval
When in doubt, just believe in yourself and press buttons

Carmac pretty much stated that this wasn't the case

It is true, and the low winrate on mid heroes is simply explained by the fact that the vast majority of people are not significantly far from their true rating. There are a ton of people who feel like they need to play mid every game because they wrongly believe they are usually the best player in their game due to an overestimation of their own skill.

But Yango, even when I go 1-13 as puck it isn't my fault! Honestly I was the best player on my team but my 14-2 jugg was just so fucking awful I couldn't carry him. If only my allies didn't suck I'd win more and be at 5k6k mmr

That's why you only gank sidelanes when you can get kills out of it

puck is a bad example, it has solo kill potential but if you try to gank a sidelane you need your allies to actually follow up. I resolved to writing out in chat that "ganking top, i will blink soon, help me." and yet they still sometimes just sit there doing nothing at 4k mmr after i silenced and ulted.

Which really isn't something that you can control since it isn't difficult to position yourself so that you can't get ganked when mid is missing.

Hence why lower level pubs always cry for ganks cuz in their experience it works, but as you go up the chain people gank less and less out of mid as the ward vision and map awareness makes it riskier to leave lane like that for potentially no benefit.

Even when playing QoP I usually only sidelane gank in laning stage when:

I get a good rune(mostly Haste, sometimes invis) and it usually has to be the on the respective lane to be ganked(top rune haste=top lane gank)
I have to go back to base for whatever reason(TP to t1 tower and gank)
Countergank.
Its an offensive tri and shit needs to be done.
If not I usually prefer farming Orchid/whatever item because the risk vs reward is bad.

PS, MLG Anaheim vs ESL Frankfurt is gonna be a hell of a showdown tournament-wise.

1 week apart, both start with $150,000 prize pool plus ticket sales and are LAN events, I'm very interested to see what they do to one-up each other etc.

Obviously, in person attendance is gonna be a ton higher at the ESL tournament (Football stadium, European fans, etc) but still.

MLG. Dreamhack Summer. ESL Event are all 1 week apart from eachother. Kind of silly to be honest. Last time we also had MLG and DHW back to back and it really just killed the hype of the second event.

And yeah, I dno how big the German Dota audience really is. I always got the impression it was relatively small.
