The fact that winning a major lan almost guarantees you a TI invite is a big deal, you don't want TI negatively effecting the rest of the tournaments.
Qualifiers are also a much less efficient way of finding the best teams. There's a reason the qualifiers to TI don't get anywhere, because the invited teams have proven themselves over a longer period of time. And those teams do still drop the ball occasionally, and it's possible a team like Fnatic or Alliance just wouldn't have made it through a qualifier, you never know.
The only system that's better than the one that exists is a point system, but point systems have too many issues involving favouritism of tournament organisers and teams grinding tournaments/having unequal amounts of opporunity, so I don't think that's a good direction to go in.

I think a large reason for the bigger qualifier is that having east/west is quite simply unfair. I mean I've been saying this for years and getting warnings on TL because of it, cross continental online tournaments are bullshit. The statistics show it, they are not fair, it doesn't matter if people think "it's only psychological", it doesn't give us the best teams in the end.
Splitting up the regions will make the qualifiers more fair. And they might have to increase the number of quals to like 6 or something to make that work. And that's fine with me, 10 invites is still a good number.
Find it funny that you dont like the wcs format and, well, i agree that all other tournaments are less meaningless since WCS has so many matches and rankingstuff.
That's not really the WCS format though. WCS runs a league, with or without the point system they'd be screwing over independent tournament organisers.
Either way you're mixing up my comments. I never said a point system would make other tournaments less meaningful, in fact I said the opposite. Not having invites and running all qualifiers would make other tournaments less meaningful. WCS-like formats (although not WCS, as WCS is a league) have completely different problems.

So there are some changes to the way the map will look, all visual like the addition of "blossom" trees, and different lighting. Any idea if it will impact performance at all?

im just curious how many juke spots they put the special trees at also they look completely out of place in the dire side of the map, random blossom trees among a bunch of dead ones is kinda weird looking
Does the Treasure of Vermilion chest have an expiration date? If I buy the Seal key after Feb 25th, will it still work to open the chest? or will they vanish like the Frostivus chest?

There's no expiry date in the description, so I'm pretty sure they won't.
