i know someone described it in general forum a while ago (you use console)
i think its needed to play heroes like ld
there might be a youtube guide already ill have a look ... else a dedicated thread would be good so people can search/be referred to it I use my folder structure, so adjust that: + Show Spoiler + D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg If there is an autoexec.cfg open it If not create one
bind "a" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1;mc_attack" //Attack clicks leave passive stance bind "s" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1;dota_stop" //Stop leaves aggressive stance bind "y" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0;dota_hold" //Hold leaves passive stance
Change the keys according to your wishes.
Open game with console active. If it doesnt already work in game open console and type "exec autoexec.cfg"
a = attack and enables autoattack s = stop and enables autoattack (for those attack-animation cancelling spam) y = disable autoattack & hold position. I dont actually know right now if a move command cancels the autoattack. It shouldnt.
Edit if you want a toggle (also autoexe.cfg and again change the y to a key you want)
bind "y" "disableAutoAttack" alias disableAutoAttack "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0; bind y enableAutoAttack;" alias enableAutoAttack "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1; bind y disableAutoAttack;"
After pressing 'y' for instance, in order to return to auto attack phase, we should either press 'a' or 's', right?

Kinda like the range radius thing that surrounds your hero... No, and the rangefinder was disabled.

Correct, that's how I play / i am used to. But use Noya's option. It's more elegant!
|
Noya's option is basically pressing F5 to toggle it on (if already off) or off (if already on) right? We can change the key though to something else?
|
Yeah, if you want to use another key you simply change F5 to the key you want.

I have a custom hud installed but to make it show i have to turn on an ingame hud then turn it off to 'refresh' the default ui and get it to load my custom one, is there a way to force it to do this at the beginning of each game without me doing it?

Setting hotkeys to allow you to disable/enable auto-attack on the fly.
This is useful for when you are hiding nearby to opponents or their creeps.
This is also useful for heroes like Lone Druid who want to last hit with their bear and not auto-attack with their hero.
1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg
2) Right click and create a new file - name it autoexec.cfg
3) Paste the following into this file (open it as a text file):
bind "a" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1;mc_attack" bind "c" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1;dota_stop" bind "s" "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0;dota_hold"
(Where "a" is your attack/a-move hotkey, "s" is your stop hotkey, and "c" is your hold position hotkey)
Save the file
4) Go to Steam and right-click Dota on the left side bar. Click Properties. In the General tab, click Set Launch Options
5) Enter -console here and open Dota
6) In Dota, in the console type "exec autoexec.cfg"
7) Close Dota and re-launch it to get rid of the console (probably something you can type to get rid of the console without restarting??)
8) Done. If you want to set a toggle, instead of or in addition to using hold position/stop/attack, try the following:
bind "y" "disableAutoAttack" alias disableAutoAttack "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0; bind y enableAutoAttack;" alias enableAutoAttack "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1; bind y disableAutoAttack;"
edit: gonna try it now, if it works ill make a thread so its searchable

You can close and open console with the "~" key

Watching Dendi's stream makes me feel better. He played hard carry void and his support squad probably didn't even realize all of the nonsense they were pulling. Their team got destroyed. Looks like half of the games I queue into.

Dendi doesn't really care about pubs so he just plays whatever he wants, but he'd probably repick Void if he did.
|
I don't try hard pick in pubs either but what it really comes down to is people being in the wrong places and making game very hard more often than not. I'm just sitting here looking at this guy and thinking yep, he's dead... and then he dies. When I'm playing it's the same deal.
|
or there are the pubs where everyone is autoattacking .... perhaps they should toggle a hotkey LOL
