Alliance is probably the happiest team on earth. Loda dreamed of a game where instead of being critiqued going naked Midas, will now be universally praised by the world and we all know how Bulldog utilized his Necrobook during Ti3. honestly neither is why I have a big issue with 6.79 though.

You passively generate a midas by 19 minutes, as opposed to the 24ish minutes of 6.68. So I actually have no idea, because for an actually good midas timing that means pretty much nothing to anyone :D

I have no idea what the hell is going on, but I think it's just another example of an extremely inbred local metagame. I just can't see it being "objectively" strong, it doesn't make any sense... mass midas should get absolutely crushed by the other team. But what we see in the Chinese games now is that mass midas is countered by mass midas again.

If you don't win then the midas team will eventually catch-up/pull ahead. The margin of error isn't lower than when trying to beat other strats... When a team buys 3x Midas, they spent 6k gold on nothing basically. The enemy team should have a huge item advantage at that point.

It's really complecated to explain why supports are allowed to go for midas without a base case, so let me use 6.78 Invoker or Nature's Prophet as an example: These heros can afford to go for a midas, even a delayed midas, because they contribute without items early on, but need a massive amount of items late game to feel the same impact. This means that even if you do something like 14 minute midas after phase, it's still worth it. So, let's take into consideration what a support in dota is: Supports contribute early on and keep your team together without the need for gold, but (typically) fall of late game hard. Now before this patch, one could not afford to make such a big investment without giving up wards, smoke, etc. However, passive gold being increased in the last patch changes this. Supports can get what they need and a little bit more off of just existing, and because they fall off lategame so hard, they need a boost to feel relevant. This isn't even gold that comes at a risk, it's gold that will be there EVERY SINGLE GAME NO MATTER WHAT. Normally, supports would get a huge gold swing from fights and invest it in a small item because they had no clue if they would get another swing like that. Look at Misery's CM. Normally, CM isn't even a hero late game, but when you have BKB+Hex, now that's something you have to consider! This is all just my guess, obviously, but it's the conclusion I've drawn. Oh, also it helps get them 5-necro-3s up. That all being said, + Show Spoiler [LGD vs RS] + LGD just rolled Rising Stars in what should have been a close game because they won fights during Midas's weakness timing.

So you just draft stalling power: kotl, titan, timber, furion, etc, and the enemy can't get anything done during the time period where they have the item advantage. Build necros for added stalling benefit. edit: I hope it rolls over, this is pretty silly.

The enemy team should have a huge item advantage at that point. This is assuming that the team that's buying Midases wasn't ahead already. If you look at the LGD games, what we saw was closer to "get ahead early, buy Midases with the lead". Midas is an item that's about timings. If you are ahead when you buy a Midas, you don't necessarily give the opponent a chance to come back, but you do also give up some pressure. Buying Midases in that midgame time period is perhaps indicative of a game where it's really easy to break T1s, but really hard to break T2s--so that once you've gotten a lead from early game breaking the outer towers, the best play is not necessarily to keep pushing the lead, but to farm up. Factors that could contribute to this farming tempo after an early lead are the decrease in jungle gold (reducing the economic benefit of controlling the enemy jungle) and the increase in streak gold (increasing the risks for a team that has an advantage trying to push that advantage too soon).

I think Aysee actually kinda nailed it. Why not just random all your heroes if you're going to go 5 Midas 5 Necronomicon?
