Everytime I play 5v5 CM with my buddies, they seem to think highly of OD/Silencer (take their int for OD). At first glance its probably hard to lane, and pretty paper too. but let's say a pro team wanted to mess around with this, how would you ban/draft for it? Would you play silencer as a support or as a safe lane farming carry in this set up?
Of course this is assuming OD gets through the ban phase
IMO You'd probably want to quick ban some sort of Wisp/Bat so that you take out good gankers for OD. Naga is optional since she can work for you if you're sure to draft her (sleep while waiting for relocate, but if they get it. Sleep to counter initiate).
So anyone want to humor me with some ideas?

Arguably, minimizing the number of hits to kill a creep camp by switching targets on Battle Fury carries takes more effort than this. bfury carries can be played with 1 hand drow is 2 hard

OD's awkward since you have to ensure that they don't get razor, but you also probably need to ban at least bat and probably wisp as well.
Beyond that, if you can get him go ahead.
Silencer is less explored but its safe to say that with his Ult (and with OD ult) your team will be looking to win teamfights. Which means you need to ban split pushers since thats the easiest way for teamfight comps to lose (plus silencer and OD are both seriously lacking in mobility). 2nd phase bans probably should focus on heroes like Nature's Prophet. Note that weaver isn't actually that big an issue for you since silencing him is a death sentence, and AM is weak vs both silencer and OD in general.
Beyond that it's up to you to explore what works. Silencer can be played as a carry or a support in the trilane but if you play him as a support be aware that he doesn't bring any serious disable so you may need to compensate for that.
OD can also be played as a safe-lane solo if you choose to go agressive, leaving yourself with the choice to send somebody else mid who may match up better versus their mid if they chose a somewhat direct counter (Razor, Lone Druid, Kunkka). OD also crushes most offlaners so no need to worry about that.

The best bkb carries right now use bkb to get up in people's faces, the exact opposite. imo phase into yasha (maybe all the way to manta) is a better rush. Yes, phase. It complements her kiting ability much much better. Treads MoM drow best build. You're useless anyway if they jump on you, better have that lifesteal + imba ms. Yah... this is how I play her, and she's my most played hero for what that's worth. Stacking movespeed is the way to go imo. Perma-522 is just delicious... kiting a lycan is fun stuff.
You have to be ridiculously attentive to enemy vision/focus though and a lot depends on how patient the facerushers/blink heroes on the enemy team are.

Sure, I've ran that lane before.
Throw chen or chantress in the jungle, run safelane OD with silencer as 5th position support. Mid and offlane you probably want teamfight oriented midgame cores to synergize with chen/OD/silencer combination.
mid game push oriented Radiant Weaver offlane, DK mid, OD/Silencer bot, Chen jungle
or
late game wombo combo Dire OD top with silencer, mag mid, dark seer bottom, jungle doom
I agree with your assessment on bans, especially banning naga (probably even first ban). Rest of the bans are going towards shutting down their combo's.

why are they DQ'd?

Naga's actually much less crucial to ban when you have a silencer, since you can ensure that their follow up to sleep is negligible without BKBs, and you can prevent reactionary sleeps to escape.
OD is extremely reliant on levels until at least level 11, so giving him a solo (be it safe lane or mid) is much preferable to having him baby sat, in general. Especially since his laning prowess is such that he generally has no use for an ally in lane.
Keep in mind that with OD and silencer you are lacking almost any kind of slow/immobilize so the rest of your lineup would do well to incorporate something that hinders your opponent's mobility.

MSS was standing in for DeMoN.

Anyone know where the info on the quals is? I want to look at the bracket but can't find it.

well if rules clearly state no standins (which is an odd rule tho) its justified.
|
comeh said in irc that it's because MSS is on team EG, who are team competing at MLG. You can use a stand-in, you just can't use a stand-in that's actively participating in the same tournament. Which makes sense to limit colluding etc.
