Maybe Manta or something. Tried Mek already on Drow... Treads, Aquila, Drums, Mek build up. Lots of stats, a bit tanky. Manta and Butterfly for late game. I don't know if it's really good or not, but we did win. Her flash farm ability is sorta there because of the bonus damage you get from ultimate.

Drow has no inherent defensive stats, so Mek doesn't suddenly round out your defensive stats the same way. It's also essentially the same role as Sniper, except his "slow" is actually a series of ministuns. Most Viper routes of development these days are actually capable of being a front-liner that absorbs a round of spells thanks to his high defensive stats with Mek or Drums. There's no conceivable way to do this with Drow without neutering her damage.

Viper doesn't suffer that limitation. This isn't actually a really correct evaluation of Drow. The main thing is that at level 6 + treads she passes the "can farm jungle faster than lane without losing HP or mana" benchmark (thanks to the bug where big creeps still get the 7 second Frost Arrows slow even though they should get the hero duration slow). Very few people actually recognize this and take advantage of it, though.

Well, its worth noting that Drow inherently has rather insane DPS given her ultimate and that she is positioned well, but I think in my head I would consider a BKB pretty early on this hero rather than a mek.

Arguably, minimizing the number of hits to kill a creep camp by switching targets on Battle Fury carries takes more effort than this.

Her "insane" DPS is highly situational, just like how Sniper can hit insane DPS if he procs Headshots constantly. Drow Ranger the hero has been the center of the balancing discussions for a long time now and there isn't a good way to fix her without a total re-work because none of her skills make any sense as a whole on a complete hero. Compared to say Viper since we are on that hero comparison, his ultimate puts out more damage simply because it leads to more, Drow has to extend far for it while Viper doesn't. DotA's mechanics don't really allow for hero kiting while harassing (like you would see Vulture/Dragoon micro in BW for example). The biggest problem with the hero is that the payoff is trivial compared to the other carries. She doesn't have a great way of spiking her GPM and she just gets hammered if she doesn't go BKB. Just too many things to address and no real efficient way to address them. Like when you look at the heroes that see play commonly or fringe, you see they all have skills that have high impact directly or indirectly, Drow doesn't at all besides....her Silence which people have said was her best skill since like 2005.

The best bkb carries right now use bkb to get up in people's faces, the exact opposite. imo phase into yasha (maybe all the way to manta) is a better rush. Yes, phase. It complements her kiting ability much much better. Treads MoM drow best build. You're useless anyway if they jump on you, better have that lifesteal + imba ms.

For an early mid game push lineup that aims to end the game in 30 mins she complements alot powerhouse mid game oriented heroes. Drow + SF are a scary combo at the 20 min mark.

The aura is a strong ability but its like a Venge aura that requires farm to scale whereas venge aura scales with your carries farm and venge can support happily. The globality of it is cute but doesn't help as much as you'd think beyond last-hitting in lane. Otherwise if your team needs the aura they probably need you there anyway.
