Wtf Valve? I seriously hope that they got something planned for MM in the next patch. Even Hearthstone has a fucking ladder. I just don't get how they can take these features away to protect the community from toxic players or to protect privacy. Do people really get offended when other people shittalk in a game?

It has always been that way, what changed is the speed of armlet toggling. Previously with the macro you can toggle through any DOT in the game, doom ion shell poisons etc, now it should be impossible to do that because they reduce the toggle speed i think.

The Normal, High and Very High system was pretty terrible anyway, but it's kinda annoying to lose the only indicator of approximately where you are in the system. Anyone know if Valve has any intentions of bringing in a new system?

So apparently you can't search your skill tiers anymore and neither can the API used by Dotabuff and all that. The Normal, High and Very High system was pretty terrible anyway, but it's kinda annoying to lose the only indicator of approximately where you are in the system. Anyone know if Valve has any intentions of bringing in a new system? Valve has historically shown zero interest in having quantifiable skill based progression so don't expect them to. I guess the only other option is IXDL? I was perfectly fine with MM before but now it's just pointless.

Completely flabbergasted. I honestly don't know why Valve is so against even a modicum of skill progression. I'm just going to assume they are going to change it to be like that.

In all seriousness, this does piss me off. Now the only way I'll know I'm improving is if I ever get on a front-page game. And I only just started getting in all VH games... I mean, I'm all for removing the ability of players to rate one another ingame. That just makes the shitty, annoying players even shittier and even more annoying. But you should be able to know if YOU'RE improving, and not just have to guess.

The other day I got matched alongside Jeyo at VH then the next game I was playing in High with dudes who are buying quelling blade on drow ranger.

No it doesn't, this update removed the bracket API as confirmed by a Dotabuff engineer, skill brackets don't exist anymore and there is no way to see them. Dotabuff games all default to Normal now because of the lack of API.

From the reddit thread: Dotabuff engineer here. I can confirm that skill bracket information is no longer available via the API we were using, so there won't be a skill bracket label attached to new matches. We had some cool features upcoming (read: already developed and were to be deployed this week) that used the skill bracket data to help you better understand whether or not you were getting better. It was important to us that anything to do with skill didn't introduce toxic player behavior. It seems those are off the table for now. It's always nice to have a graph on days like this: http://i.imgur.com/1VfQnFW.png On September 24 2013 10:08 kirsed wrote: Have you seen how CS:GO does classic competitive matchmaking. I saw that there are a bunch of different ranks, but I don't know what other differences there are.

Edit: It's also not a number. I think at the end ranks are fine as long as there are enough. The problem with your rank as a number is that someone will be all "I'm 1850 and your only 1825 you fucking scrub go support, die." When you have a rank and everyone is the same rank but like one guy then people are more open to being jerks in other aspects of the game. Edit 2: Counter Strike seems a lot easier to do matchmaking for though so who knows.

Exactly then you can be all happy when you win against a team that is "better" then you without shitting on your teammates at the start of the game. It won't solve flame at the end but people do that when they lose no matter what.
