Here is a few thing to notes from my observation on KP right now:
1/ They are getting good result. 7-1 in term of series since AUI joined(lose only the first series) and play support for the first time.12-3 in term of games played. They are consistent and they are winning good money. With Arteezy, they were also a strong team that took games off named teams in the past.
2/ They are the fastest to adapt. They have used a lot of the new heroes/meta. We are looking at trollwarlord, mirana, spiritbreaker, and they even picked axe vs [A]. They are grabbing the money in style and it is effective.
3/ They are the best unsponsored team right now. Every bit of their result will be used to increase their leverage with potential sponsor. I want the win vs [A] to happen so we could see some big sponsor backing them for LAN events.

Winning one good set in a year of online cups is really not that impressive and I don't know why people think that Alliance losing a set means anything. Alliance is going to lose games and they will lose them to random ass teams. The Super Bowl champions do not go undefeated the next season they play. No one does(with the exception of the dolphins, once, forever ago). Welcome to real competition, where the top teams don’t win 100% the time. They just win when it matters most. Teams like KP are good, but they are not at the level of Alliance or Na'vi.

Yeah, I just like to add the point that in no other sport in the world do you expect that the championship team will go undefeated next season. It just does not happen in any robust, comparative environment.
