As well as the very common ones like calling Nature's Prophet "Furion", or Mirana "POTM", or Bounty Hunter for "Gondar". Not about elitist at all, sometimes it just takes less effort to type and when you are used to typing it, it kinda sticks. | ||

In DOTA1 noone used most of the names, suddenly in DOTA2 people overuse them, so what changed in DOTA2 that increased the popularity in names? BTW Nobody calls riki a stealth assassin because it's too long. | ||

Plenty of people are stuck in habits of using the alternate names, like bala/balanar for NS. And PLENTY of people used all the different names in dota1, plenty of people called qop akasha, plenty of people said both furion and prophet, plenty of people said stryg/strygwyr and bloodseeker. It wasn't uncommon to run into that at all, hell i ran into people calling sven RK a couple of times. And BTW, there are people who say SA when referring to riki. That's not rare to run into at all. There is nothing elitist about it. | ||
