Also I notice a lot more leavers in DotA than HoN. Does this sound accurate to other people who've played both?

Also, I was never a hon player, but last month I tried playing it for a few days just out of curiosity. Not that I wanted to play it regularly or switch over, but just to see what it was like, and I noticed the people at the starting mmr were noticeably better. But I guess that's just personal speculation over 5 or so games.

You're playing shit tier mm that's why. Seriously tho, when my friends started playing DotA 2 I made a smurf to play with them and it's true that at lower levels there is more leavers. I dont think I saw a leaver , like legit leaving, in over a 100 games at least. As for the K/d, I feel that HoN is... faster ? maybe ? You die and kill stuff faster I feel, the game moves at a faster pace and it's easier to get a shit kd or a rly good one. One of my friends has 4 k/d in hon and shit at dota so it doesn't really mean much, it comes down to the player. And k/d as "skill" mesurement... really ?

Your first ultimate should be a guaranteed kill, if not 2, which is ~200 gold (more if its FB). Your first set of sentries and observer wards come out of your starting gold, and you can only buy 1 additional set of obs wards at 6 minutes. You're not going to buy Smoke because how do you even gank with Warlock? You're going to have to buy Boots before your Midas, but even counting the 6 minute wards, you should be able to bank something like 1050 gold by the 6th minute. The other 850 gold isn't exactly out of the question from more pulling, farming a lane while a ganker is going to gank, or getting a tower. Obviously this implies you just AFK-pulling, but it's not like Warlock does anything else effectively pre-6. He doesn't have any killing power, and popping a heal on your carry or Fatal Bonding the enemy off-laner to creeps doesn't restrict your ability to pull. Still with 300 more gold u can get a mek, wlock isnt as mana intensive as other heros, not to mention u are incredebly easy to burst down when u get ur midas, 2 chain stunts and u are dead before u can get ur ult off, with a mek this doesnt happen u get stunned pop mek and ult to kill teamfight. How does midas help a teamfight centric hero as wlock, and it still delays a aghs, it will only accelerate a force staff or refresher or shiva

Ya but u cant stay in the back end and come in to get a good ult off if u dont have a blink or a forcestaff, it isnt as easy as having a 1200 range, u have to hit generally 3 or 4 heros in it for it to be effective ( u use the ministunt to setup fatal bond, so that means that u have to hit the middle of the ennemy team to get a good ult ( that is a 600 range, very easy to stunt him) If u think its all positionning go watch dignitas games from 2 month ago they played alot of wlock lineups and sometimes he got chain stunned or silenced to death ( dont forget u have to account for blink, long range stunts and silences)

Yeah I know I'm pretty bad. I was just mentioning that I was less bad (comparitively) in DotA. And I don't know of any other good "skill" measurement. Is there a public rating in DotA?

HoN has a lot smoother animations in that many spells that are the HoN equivalent of a dota spell has a much smoother, easier and faster animation. Most extreme example i can think of is HoN version of Lina and Axe. I was pretty good at HoN lina, but in dota 2 i can´t hit a stun with her to save my life, not that i have played her much at all though. Then there´s axe, or legionnaire in HoN. He has no dot but instead has a SB-esque charge that reduces damage he takes for X time and dmg opponent does by X AND does dmg reducing his reliability on early blink and makes him a beast ganker. Not to mention his taunt has no animation whatsoever so blink + taunt is easy as hell. I also think, iirc, that just about everything does slightly more dmg in HoN then in dota.

Getting the followup fatal bond on a max range rock would be neigh impossible, but if we're talking dead warlock or no fatal bonds the choice seems pretty clear to me. Dignitas winrate with Warlock is also pretty pathetic (3/8 in the past three months) so just because they play warlock doesn't mean they're good at him. Maybe they lose so much because Fogged sucks at positioning?

Not surprising he thinks k/d is a measurement of skill. If I remember correctly that's how they roll in HoN. If you have an argument your opinion is invalid if your k/d is lower than the other guys. It's like a secondary form of player rating for tie breakers and stuff. That was my impression at least.
