I know what the idea behind it is, but again - that never happens. All I ever see , except in maybe 1 out of 10 games, is an underfarmed DK who desperately tries to get a single big item up before the game is over.

I feel some teams are trying it a little bit too hard this patch, but there are plenty of games where it works out just fine. It's nothing new at all, it has been a decent strat for a long time.

I've watched a lot of games these past few days, saw DK vs Puck a lot, I don't think it was ever close. EG just lost their game vs Kaipi, their DK got wrecked vs TA. I know that DK mid is not a new strat, but the popularity surged recently. No matter the matchup, a DK is sent mid to starve.

I feel some teams are forcing it a bit too much, as he doesn't do that well against some of the most dominant mid heroes, but there were plenty of match ups he did fine. The patch is too new to say if the bottle crow really killed his viability. I saw games where he was one of the first picks and the other team just drafted an OD to shut him down, but that doesn't mean he is shut down no matter the matchup.

He doesn't win lanes, but he doesn't need to win lanes. He needs levels and some amount of farm, and he can get that just fine with flame breath spam and he ussually doesn't die. The patch is too new to say if the bottle crow really killed his viability. I saw games where he was one of the first picks and the other team just drafted an OD to shut him down, but that doesn't mean he is shut down no matter the matchup. But he doesn't get the matchups he would do fine in. I can look at the draft, see a *insert dominant mid hero* and deduce that sending DK vs that is a bad idea, but it still happens and the game is immediately boring to me - no way DK is winning that. So 1 lane is lost, because while levels help him, 20 minute drums+boots does not allow him to do anything mid-game unless the team is winning without him. I don't know why I dislike this particular choice so much, it's just...frustrating to watch?

If you're farming a DK at 4-5 creeps a minute, you can honestly be OK with that even if the Puck he's against is getting 6ish. Pretty much - if you hit pushing time with bracer, bottle, treads, wand, you're not doing bad. There's a pretty lengthy explanation why its okay to run DK mid - but you don't run him to win his lane. You run it to have a dualcore lineup, essentially. You shouldn't run it against TA, however.
