RNG battles!). Otherwise though you basically have to pull the creep wave away from him and just trade farm if you can. this sounds like what I should have done, pull the creeps away. What happened was that my lane partner stunned him, I went in since I thought "sweet kill potential", stunned as well, his partner hit me with a spell and I realized (not fast enough) that I can't manfight Axe. From that kill he got tranq boots and the lane got really, really painful from that point, he zoned me out so hard. good to know I was fighting an uphill battle from the getgo I guess.

The king of low level manfights is still Ursa imo. Not sure how well he would handle the lane though. If you are talking about a melee in a 2v2 lane it really changes a lot as well, it depends a lot more on both your partners.

Sure everyone has access to them, doesn't make them good for the game though. It was removed with good reason. How do you equate a range cue to a macro that clicks buttons for you? I agree meepo/invoker/armlet macros are bad for the game. I'd argue they even break it. One-button invis, and toggling armlet through every dot in the game is a wee bit silly. That's why I don't use them, despite them giving you a huge advantage (especially armlet). However, just because macros and range cues are both done through console, does not make then even remotely similar in nature.

Both allow you to perform a gameplay task to a level of precision that is not possible through normal human gameplay, but the armlet case comes up way less often than XP range does.

One on one, melee, is it possible to beat Axe? I was Sven if it matters. I lost the lane - not terribly but I had terrible farm for a hard carry. To add to this the obvious champ is dark seer but something like a dragon knight can work really well or a pa because when u hit 6 u can start trading blows and u can stiffling dagger out of the dot.

Why shouldn't it be possible to do that? What would it break? One of the other dotas (hon, I think) added a little dot above creeps for when they were inside your xp range.

Something similar would be like in starcraft if you highlighted an enemy army, and it told you how many game seconds it was away from your base. letting you get in exactly as many things as you can before the attack arrives, when it takes away that whole feel of the game as a skill.

Makes it too easy for offlaners and/or anyone else having a hard time in lane to just sit at the edge of xp range and be safe. Instead of maybe do a mistake, come too close and get killed off. Being able to see exact XP range can only stale the gameplay.

You are performing a basic gameplay action to a level of precision that is not possible through normal human ability. What a human is capable of will vary based on the player's ability, sure, but being able to judge XP range precisely 100% of the time is something a human is simply not capable of, and the gameplay is not balanced around a human being able to do that, just the same as it's not balanced around armlet toggle being perfect every time.

@yango: imo, armlet macro breaks every dot. You can't die to any dot if you have an armlet, period. Rot, ion shell, you name it. All I'd like is just more info given to the player about core mechanics of the game, that's all. I think the XP range increase made offlaning much easier than range removal made it harder. That's not even part of my argument at all. I just want more info on the most fundamental mechanics. I guess I'll stop beating the dead horse now lol

PA needs level 3 to lasthit reliably with 100 damage stifling dagger. There are a few melee heroes that could beat/gain an advantage on Axe in a 1v1: Juggernaut, Timbersaw, Bristleback, maybe even Slark, Undying, Naix. It's much more doable going 2v2 against an Axe lane, though. Double melee lanes and laning Axe are both not that common, so chances are you won't be in many double melee lanes against Axe.

Also I don't think it's coincidence that the range for denied xp on creeps is 1200 now, concurrently done with removal of range indicator.

I'd love to see someone manually toggle against ion shell ![]() e: maybe they can and I'm just super awful. That's a very likely possibility
