Footman Wars, Castle Fight, Pudge Wars, Warlock, etc. don't even have to be mentioned.

YouTD is the most complex tower defense game I have ever played, be it standalone or WC3. Seriously, there';s so much stuff in there, it's incredible. Your towers get experience and level up, have inventory for items that give them stats, or change how they work, have auras, the towers have spells. You get oils that upgrade the towers. There are several modes that affect how you get the towers. You research elements the towers are divided into. There are different builders and all give different stats to towers and special abilities, at the end of every game you get a code that you can enter at the start of the game, gather experience and unlock different builders and get boosts depending on your level. It's just amazing.
This is how the stat screen for an individual tower looks like:+ Show Spoiler +

Loved em Bleach Vs One piece mods.... But actually the WC3 Tower defence maps were just the best. So intense... especially in co-op... >.<

Every time i see a standalone TD game, I just laugh, not a single one was better than the best wc3 TDs
|
YouTD guys...alone it is worth reinstalling WC3, and even getting Garena. Best TD in the history of WC3.

ElementTD, GreenTD, LegionTD, herosiege, battletank/ship, Vampire Island (whats the name again?), used to play them when we were taking a break after many dota games. Good times.

Can you play YouTD solo? Else I will host and force some of you to join me ^_^

Most of those Angel Arena clones were pretty terrible, but fun.

All those BVO, Anime Fight games etc were so fun. YouTD and ElementTD by far my most favorite TD's ever. Trolls vs Elves? I think it was, was also amazing (if they didn't maphack, LOL). Oh all these good times coming back to me

You CAN play solo...but you cannot "save" after you're done. (You want to save your XP progress - unlocks higher tier builders, which create different strategy etc). I play a lot of YouTD after work with a certain streamer.
*Sprout TD was a really cool idea. I'm down for playing that! You start off 1 tower, and it branches off and you maze+TD with it as my memory serves. Played it for a good month with Kristofferson The 5th.
** What's this OTHER TD that isn't coming to my mind. You had 1 wave of monsters, then you had a Hero at the bottom which would get you Gold during the non-wave phase. Not Soldier TD (another good one).

Did anyone here play SproutTD? It wasn't near as famous as maps like GemTD or ElementTD but it had a totally different take on the tower defense genre and it was super fun. I spent a while hoping that someone would port it to SC2 but I guess I'll have to dig out my copy of WC3 and play it again. I'll definitely check out YouTD as well, not sure how I missed it during my tower defense phase.

Was sprout the one where you had to power the towers with electricity of some kind, and you built like power lines for them, etc. ?

The shitty Anime arenas where the best. I remember choosing the character Sasuke from Naruto, and then looking at it's subtitle. Sasuke, the Level 1 Don't pick this faggot.

Nah sprout where you were given 1 builder at the start to build one of a few towers. From there you could only make new towers by selecting a current tower and placing a tower adjacent to it. Each tower had a different set of towers that it let you build, so you had to balance mazing using basic towers with building chains of advanced towers to unlock whatever tower you needed to clear a stage. Towers leveled up, and you could buy more advanced builders and upgrade the tree of life you were trying to defend with wood that you got after each stage.
It's kind of hard to explain and my explanation probably doesn't make a lot of sense so a video like this probably makes more sense(it's not a great video of the game but it shows how it works).
Anyway it was super fun and incredibly difficult at the harder difficulties and I'm definitely gonna have to play it later today lol.

That was Power TD, and you were able to team up with the person adjacent to you since there were 8 waves but only 4 entrances into the middle of the map where they ended up (although it didn't favor teamwork if bounty wasn't shared). Towers ran off of generators that you could build either on the grass or in the small bodies of water beside your area's cliffs. I never beat it, but it was a neat idea.

Yeah, Sprout TD was actually the only TD I played alone to improve in. I had gotten to the point where I was consistently getting to the last level on the hardest difficulty on Race, but I only beat it a quarter of the time depending on which towers got which auras. I used to host it all the time, but very few people played it. =( It felt a lot more involved than other TD's because of the aura gimmick, making people micro to guarantee which towers would get the kills and such. Yeap, I can definitely say Sprout was my favorite TD.
